Yes, jcut- I only have 16 items in ecrater because that's my site for my Handcrafted doll beds and bedding. I have over 100 items in my Ebay Store though. I just added those two to several of the free url links. And I have clicked on that link, on Ecrater, to promote my store- long ago. If I remember right- I put it on Google and Twitter? Betty Lou |

Ok great, this is an Ecrater thread so if you can try to promote your EC store more, I think you will eventually start bringing some sales. But I have noticed the more you get listed there, the more your seen. Ya know what I mean? After you do some promoting, you have to do it again. Its always nonstop. EC will get your items into google pretty steadily but you have to do the rest. Promoting your stores on the internet is NOT a one time shot, you have to keep at it :) |

All the alt sites users say you have to promote your store and listings etc ?
I tend to wonder about this !
Shouldn't they be promoting their sites and bringing buyers to our stores !
If we have to keep promoting our stores, we may as well set up our own websites and promote that !
(which is what many people are doing) |

| Digmen on a free site I feel like it's my responsibility to promote, now if I'm paying a site, well I feel like they should help me out in that area. You can host your own store which will cost you money, but then again...You have to do your own promoting! |

Many people do both, have their own site and list on EC, Bonz, etc. But all in all in order to drive the traffic you MUST get your URL out there for the World to see. EC does it part and you have to do the rest. This is what I found to be true for Myself and I am sure others if NOT all will agree. |

That's exactly it. And I have found that most that don't have sales don't do any daily advertising or weekly, MAYBE they place a promotion somewhere monthly.
There is ALOT more to it then putting a business card in the package or doing a tweet once a week or having a signature in a forum. It's REAL WORK!
eCRATER is not for everyone. It's not for those that thing thye can list and buyers will buy. Those days on the net are long gone. |

I'm not going to do any real promotion to my new store until I have 100 items in each (6) catagory. I'd love to, but I want each visitor to want to bookmark my store. There is my hope that they will not be able to see it all in one sitting, and they will need to come back.
I have the stock, but it takes a lot of time just to load items w/ pix.
And... I sold my first item this morning too. Found I presume by a Google search.
Other poster is right, this is for folks who want the long haul out of it, not a quick sell and be done. |

| The long view and patience are virtues when it comes to this business. I sell much more on eBay than eCrater but I'm keeping my faith (and EC store). |

I have not had any luck on ecrater yet.
(Probably because I have not done any promotion)
But I notice that their number of listings is going up steadily which has got to be good. |

Well, yes and no. More listings is potentially more competition = less sales. On the other hand, more listings could draw in more views on items that the visitior was not really planning on viewing.
But basically, all the sites out there are not starving for listings so much as starving for buyers.
And since EC is free, I do not expect them to go all out with a marketing plan that includes magazing ads, TV spots, and billboards. And without these kinds of ads, it is strickly up to you to do the promo work. So that means you must sell at ebay or/and amazon in order to advertise to your clients/buyers yourself.
The day EC decides to advertise and do serious promotional work is the day that they start charging fees. I hope that when they do start charging fees, that they let oldest store owners pay less and newer store owners more. I would pay $4.00 a month to see some ads somewhere or anywhere.
It's gonna be a long hard ride with EC, thankfully I have the time, love my merch and am not in abig hurry to sell at this time due to horrible market economy. I'd rather go slow anyway at EC, and hoard the nicer items there, blow out the junk on ebay, and some nice tickets at amazon. I have the longer term plan with EC.
I have driven several buyers over there to spend. The few that I did not drive over spent very little. And only one so far has left feedback. This all points to a very slow run at EC for me. |

In this long weekend, I only have a question.
Tuesday I had a sale, but was from another person. |
