When did ecrater start showing other sellers items on the individual item pages? Wouldn't it make more sense to show the individual sellers "other" items rather than "more items you might be interested in from other sellers?

Hey Linda, this has been happening for awhile now.
If you are doing a search, and find an item, it will show you similar listings from other seller's stores.

But if you type in a particular sellers URL, then all the products shown belong to them only. On each individual page.

So if your coming off of Google or doing a search in EC then yes you will see this happening.

This has been going on for awhile.

If you log into the eCrater forums and go to this link, it will help you understand better.

It has to do with picture sizes and a few other things:

I think its like ebay cross-promotion feature and there is no way to opt out.

That is too bad. Wish I had known that before setting up the 4 stores because no way will I go for that. I didn't like it on Ebay and I don't like it on ecrater.

Guess I'll just have to start working a little harder at getting more exposure for my website where everything is shown in one store.

That is unfortunate. No one else does that and I am very disappointed in ecrater for doing it. Since they make no money off of sales I'm a little confused as to why they would want to do it that way.

I know I was just looking through some craft patterns and found others at the bottom, started clicking on them then got distracted and didn't buy any.

Instead, I spent the evening prowling through records and other items. I usually buy several craft patterns a week but like to buy them from one seller. Instead of going back up to click on the sellers store that I had first found I wandered off to looking at all the patterns and then didn't buy a thing. I'm betting I'm not the only one that does that.

It would be great if they showed MY other items in that space. I don't know when they started it but I know it wasn't that way last time I was shopping on ecrater (many months ago when I was still selling on ebay)

Your items appear in your competitor listings also.

But if customer go directly to your store it only shows your products.

That is definitely ebay talk. Yuch and Shame on you ecrater!

I am never the cheapest seller on anything I sell. That is why ebay went down the tubes. Everyone started underselling everyone else. Now, that is happening on ecrater as well. Found a lovely pattern for a doily and then found others at the bottom for only 1/3 of the price of the one I just looked at. Even though they were not the same in the pattern section, it is really bad in items like records where several sellers sell the same item.

Once you get someone to look at your item they should be your customer. If they want to look at other similar ones they can return to search.

Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way?

Anyway, I think they are doing their entire seller base a huge disservice and i always thought they were the best when it came to sellers rights.

I believe when you will find this is when a customer is searching within the site. Since eCrater is set up for shopping, they provide relevant items as options for customers.
If a customer clicks on an item from Google and goes to your store what they would see is related items from your store.

For it to be ebay talk...you would need to start giving them a big chunk of all your sales!

"lindajean" If you check Google products or Ecrater itself buyers can sort items by price.

So if buyers are looking for cheapest items they can easily omit the expensive ones.

I have buyers who brought expensive items from me even though others are selling it for cheaper.

A lot of it is to do with how the customer like the item, picture, description, feedback and customer service.

So I don't think cross promotion is a bad think.

I hope ecrater will add the option for sellers to opt out of this feature in future for those who don't like cross-promoting.

You said you have your own website. If I was you I promote my own site and add products directly to google base.

That is what I have been doing. And, Presto (who hosts my website) adds them to Google for me each night.

I just thought it would be a good idea to spread some things around. I have enough where I wouldn't even have to duplicate listings.

Doing Google and especially Bing searches I see it does work best if you have dedicated stores to certain type items rather than a hodge-podge like I have on Presto. That's not Google Base but a pure Google search. It looks like I have a much better chance of showing up in the top slots if I have dedicated stores.

Hotnana...no, I followed the link from Google and the other related items are right there. The way they are presented it makes it hard to tell when a sellers item actually ends because they have the seller policies and info below the other related items belonging to other sellers.

And, they are cutting off the description to show the other items.
