Did ecrater change the other items shown in the listings? I just checked out a couple of sellers and now THEIR own items are showing in the listings as other items.

That is so much better. Is it a permanent change?

So, guess I jumped the gun. Looks like the items shown are everyones if you do a search within ecrater for an item but shows the store owners items if you look at an item found through google.

I don't think ecrater sellers would like it. They never even slightly criticize the site.

Its like ebay cross gallery feature and they added it a long time ago.Even though I Like it unfortunately there is no opt out feature for sellers who don't like it.

I was right and the folks there didn't like my question or even consider that it was the wrong thing to do. The cheerleaders there are very dedicated to the site as are the cheerleaders elsewhere. Only one longtime seller came forward stating it hurt her sales.

I'm sticking with my own website. I'm just really tired of changes that don't work for some being rolled out everywhere with attitudes of take it or leave it.

I know ecrater is free. But, free doesn't matter if things change too much. I need to find a reasonably priced site that will let me have 5 storefronts for a reasonable fee.

My website is limited to one and I don't want to open 5 but may have to do so. The price for unlimited items is only $4 or so a month so I could open 5 there for less than my one Presto store where everything is tossed in together.

I'll open one on my own website and go from there. I'll just put different items than in my Presto store until I see which works best.

lindajean majority of sales on ecrater comes from google base.

So if a buyer comes through google base he will only see your listings.

The no of sales from ecrater search is very low.So I think it won't affect your store very much.

Just list some items and activate google analytics to see where the sale originated from and I am sure you will like the site.

Any way opening your own site is the best way.But if you are looking for a free storefront ecrater will be great.

Thank you for that information. I thought (from reading other posts here) that most of the sales from ecrater came from other ecrater sellers so assumed it would be an internal search that worked best.

Linda Jean, I don't post often at Ecrater, but I do get some good information from checking in once in awhile.

I've been there for over three years now and it does keep getting better. :D I don't have the time or energy to try and open my own website so this works really great for me.

From what I understand if you find my items through Google only my items will show up on that page. I believe that 89% or more people find me through Google search with Yahoo, Bing and others taking up another 6& or more. 8)

It has not affected my sales this year according to all the invoices I have to wade through for tax time.
I am a cheerleader for Ecrater just not to the extent other people are. :?

Well, I do have to step back and admit that ebay has made me super suspicious of companies and their practices.

After 11 years on ebay I should just be thankful for all the good years and what I learned through the experiences.

I will try to remain more open minded and less judgemental (at least when I really don't know anything about what I am dealing with...as in a new experience for me like ecrater would be).

With your website, are you able or allowed to make up your own custom categories?

If so, then use the one store and have five different sections, like a department store.

Having everything in one store isn't a bad idea, after all, it's working quite well for stores like WalMart and Target.

Yes, I do have custom categories. It just seems that when I search for records, or movie posters or even postcards the top returns in main Google and Bing are stores that deal in that one item only.
