I am the co-owner of a cell phone wholesale company, Abeo Partners, LLC, abeomarkets.com is our website.

I'm joining this forum to hopefully make some long term power seller relationships and to also get involved with productive discussions where hopefully I can learn from and better my business.

Maybe I'm showing my ignorance, but I was under the impression that selling unlocked cell phones was against the law.

Yet everything I saw on your site stated "unlocked".

I have a reseller account with AA Wireless (you can look them up online) in downtown L.A. I'm in west L.A. They are very reputable. And they sell 'unlocked' cell phones along with several reputable cell phone wholesalers throughout the U.S. I have accounts with.

I use AA Wireless alot because I can advertise on Craigslist and meet the buyer at AA Wireless' cell phone warehouse to pick up their purchase (I feel safe that way) plus AA Wireless does NOT sell to the general public so I still have guaranteed my profit margin when I collect cash from the buyer then turn around and walk up to their desk to pay my reseller invoice. This is after AA Wireless has brought out the cell phones for the buyer to inspect.

I also have 2 websites plus sell on ebay, ebid and a little on ecrater. But I really like Craigslist here in L.A. because it's such a quick way to earn money very quickly.

Anyway, just my little explanation about unlocked cell phones.

Greetings,
My name is Dustin Flick and I am co-owner of abeomarkets.com, an online distribution company. Originally designed to offer online liquidation services to manufacturers and distributors, our model eventually morphed to encompass a larger scope.

What we learned when we talked to firms about their liquidation needs was that many brick-and-mortar firms still are without an online sales channel at all. The firms I speak of are manufacturers or high level distributors. These firms were interested in whether or not we would be able to offer their products online and how competitive the market place would be.

It was at this junction that we decided to expand our services to include 'online distribution services', which would be focused on, but not limited to, firms without a pre-existing online presence.

What hasn't changed about our model is the desire to operate a primarily B2B enterprise, with resellers as our primary customer base. We have communicated to our vendors our desire to adhere to our value-leader marketing strategy and thus are able to offer highly competitive pricing. In fact, our pricing (we feel) is so competitive that we can target more or less any variety of reseller. That being said one of our potential resellers would certainly be powersellers.

We would like to hear all kinds of feedback.
Particular concerns we have include: Are our products viable for powersellers? Are our prices competitive enough to warrant resale by powersellers?

Additionally, we will soon be expanding and offering high wattage (>150 watt) solar panels for as much as 70% less than current “discounted” retail prices. This product is quite large and I was considering whether to focus on sales to powersellers or if perhaps drop-shipping would be a better route…

All feedback is greatly appreciate.

You're assumption is correct. Our website went live in the middle of December '09. We are negotiating with some contract manufacturers of electronics (wiring harnesses and printed circuit boards) to determine how we can leverage our services into value for them. We have some other products coming up soon as well but the lead time prevents us from listing them yet.

So do you find the pricing competitive?

It seems the cell phone market is quite saturated and carving out a space will be quite challenging.'

Great Idea! I would have a few suggestions that may help. First, I would suggest diversifying your listing beyond phones and phone accessories. Second, down the road you may want to consider getting a custom website, the free script you used has some limitations; especially on multiple vendor websites - I went down this road for a little bit before I decided to create a complete custom website. Thanks for the advice. How do you feel our prices are competition wise with the market? I feel that we are offering significant discount savings for the models we specialize in.

Also, any advice on obtaining retail customers? I'm finding it difficult to find buyers. We have the capability of broadening the models we offer and to provide deeper discounts. Just need to start generating consistent demand from the buy side.
