I was considering opening a GCO account.

But I am seeing a increasing number of sellers complaining in ecrater & other sites about google checkout suddenly closing of accounts with no explanation or warning and refunding all the money for charged or shipped orders that was not yet paid.

The sellers tried to contact google support but there is no phone support and they all got a canned response from google that "the reason for account closure cannot be disclosed due to security reasons".Also the sellers are permanently banned from opening new GCO accounts.

If any other sellers got their GCO closed please share their experience here and also how much money they lost since google also refund shipped orders that was not yet paid.

A search on google merchant forum shows that some sellers lost money in the range of $3000 to $5000.

Please post why you think GCO closed the accounts if you know ?

So far Google has worked well for me. Had an account for 3+ years or so now without a single glitch.

I would say that many of those that are complaining are scams. I know of no one who has had their account closed by Google.

I have had my GC account since early 2007 and have never had even a hint of trouble.

I prefer GC over all other payment methods.

Had my account since 2008. No problems here. Wish more of my customers paid that way. Can't beat payments going directly to your checking account.

I opened my account in 2006 and have had nothing but good experiences. I have heard of very few suspensions that weren't justified. I process from 5-10 orders daily on Google and only had one problem... I had an email about a month about selling a so-called "adult item" but once I removed it from my sites everything was fine. From what I have read, if your account is in good standing you are given a week (as I was) to comply with Google policy before your account is suspended.
On the other hand, if you have constant chargebacks or disputed transactions, or sell sell products that violate their TOS (counterfeits, etc.) then you'll probably lose your account.

I appreciate all fellow sellers reply.

One seller in ecrater forum wrote that his GCO was working fine for his transactions in the range of $50-$100 until he got a large payment over $1000.

Can sellers please share what is the maximum amount processed through your GCO accounts in a single transaction.

I'd agree with tha.I've had a Google Checkout account for some years.
I've had no problems and customers seem to like it.I think the Google name is both well known and trusted.

My largest single transaction selling with GC was 2189.99 and I had no problems. I think that the transfer from GC to my bank account took 1 additional day but that may have been because it was during the busy holiday season.

I have processed up to $1400, but then again I have used it for years without any disputed transactions and a high rating.
It would probably depend on the seller's standing, the type of item (something like jewelry may get flagged) and the age of the account. Google does close accounts for suspicious activity, and I would say an account selling $50-100 items suddenly taking a $1000 item would be suspicious to them.
I also never have any trouble getting a personal response from Google, even though it may take a day or two.
