The one thing holding StormPay back was their higher fee structure.
The only advantage PayPal had was their 2.9% fee but StormPay has matched that now! With StormPay's excellent customer service along with the many other free services recently added, they are destined to become the net's #1 online payment processor!

This is very very important to me....who backs StormPay? When you trust money to a company you need to know who is behind them. Thanks.

I used stormpay for 2 money transactions 2 years ago. One i bought a $20 dollar item off an auction site and the other I was paid a payment for a website I sold. The total of those 2 transactions were $220 > one the guy paid me $200 which I transferred to my bank account and the other I paid a woman $20 foir an auction item (that money was pulled from my bank account). That was all good, I didnt have anymore transactions with them. Then about 6 weeks later I was looking at transactions on my online bank account and there was a withdrawel from my bank account from stormpay for $212. I immediately went to my bank and fought the bank got the money back and and blocked them from going into my account.
The next thing I heard was a couple months later and it was DUNS saying I owed Stormpay $298 . They had suspended my account and I couldnt email them or speak to anyone by phone or email.
I refused to pay and sent in faxes to DUNS showing my transactions with stormpay.
They wrote it off my account.
But this was about a 6 month ordeal negotiating with DUNS over this Fake Bill from stormpay.
I would reccomend to anyone to avoid using stormpay. They have your money but you have no way to even contact them.
My two cents worth!

Patty00,

It should be very important to use a company that is 100% trustworthy!
I have been with StormPay since they started in Nov. 2002. I know the owner John McConnell who lives in Clarksville, TN. I personally trust them
completely and have NO worries about my money when it's in their hands.

Regarding demain1090's post........

I'm sure you can find someone with a complaint against ANY payment
processor. But I know for sure that StormPay has the highest integrity
you will find on the net, excellent customer service, and many useful
services they offer for free. Their customer service is second to NONE
and in most cases, tickets are serviced within a matter of hours....NOT days, and are answered by REAL people addressing your issues.....not some robotic reply answering generic issues.

I have seen their "physical" office building in Clarksville and it is very
impressive. They are a real 'brick and mortar' business, not one that may be here today and gone tomorrow.
StormPay is an excellent company and I don't trust my business with ANY one else.

That was enough for me not to deal with them. They have to be as reputable as any bank you deal with. I originally signed up with Paypal because they were backed by a bank - Deutschbank and therefore had to adhere to banking rules and regulations. Although this John McConnell may be honest as an angel from heaven, I still wouldn't trust my money, credit cards or bank accounts. Sorry, when it comes to your money you can't be too cautious. Just my opinion. Everyone can do what they feel is best.

I thought PayPal was not regulated by the same rules as banks. I hear this complaint all the time from sellers, or am I just misunderstanding something.

I don't know if trusting the site is worth it. How many buyers use StormPay? How many of the 2.5 million members still ermember their accounts?

It's nice to know that an alternative program is making some headway in the business, but I'm going to wait a bit until 3-4 big announcements down the road to consider signing up.

Not quite sure what you are saying here. I would think adhering to banking rules and regs would be a GOOD thing........ as they couldn't
just up and take your money?

Anyway, StormPay is a very valuable tool for buying and/or selling online for those who choose to use them. For the rest, there is always PayPal who is owned by ebay, is known to freeze accounts, and has ZERO customer service. Oh, and there is always IntGold who is currently under investigation with warrants served on them. And don't forget egold who
seems to be down more than up during the last couple of weeks. It's REALLY fun trying to get those accounts funded! I'm sure there are a few more fly-by-night processors out there if one wanted to take the time to find them. But for me personally, I'll stick with the best.....StormPay.

terrif - what I am saying is I don't know whether stormpay has to adhere to any rules and regulations if it is a privately owned company. I did write them today and am awaiting their explanation.

Roundabout - before ebay bought Paypal it was owned by Deutschbank and Nokia as partners. Even now, the federal government recently slapped Paypal with a fine and may look into them further. They seem to still be under federal jurisdiction.

I'm okay with Paypal but only because I've dealt with them for years and even after Ebay bought them out, I know Ebay isn't going to fold their tents and slip away into the night :-) I feel about as comfortable as one can feel working with an internet company.

You may need to go backwards to read the BIG announcements because there have been several lately! :D

Quote: › docWrite("quote")CARTERSVILLE, GA – Crate Racin’ USA officials have announced that StormPay.com has signed on as the title sponsor of the series, which will now be known as the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series powered by Crate Racin’ USA. Crate Racin’ USA was founded in 2005 by Mike Vaughn, and the series will enter its second season of existence with new personnel and new goals.

Based in Clarksville, TN, StormPay.com is a global leader in the safe and secure processing of online payments and boasts free auction listings. StormPay.com processes online payments in over 200 countries across the world.

"StormPay.com is very excited about the opportunity to be the named sponsor of the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series,” StormPay.com Chief Executive Officer Steve Girsky said. “This is a very exciting time for StormPay.com and truly creates a great partnership for us. The power of an affordable racing series where the average race enthusiast can actually participate in a race car event against some premier level competition is tremendous.”

In addition to their payment processing services and free online auctions, StormPay.com provides a host of other online services including free e-mail accounts, hosted web home pages, domain name registration, webmaster tools and resources, along with chat rooms, games and more.

“StormPay.com fits in well with our series in that we are both trying to reach the same demographic,” Vaughn said. “First we hired Roby Helm to be our President of Operations and Communications, so we both know our messages about the series and StormPay.com will reach the media and the public.”

StormPay understands that many of their customers are already racing fans, and they see the sport as a vehicle to expand the company by drawing awareness to establishing new customers.

“Many StormPay.com customers are already race fans and our association with the sport will help us create opportunities to attract new customers,” Girsky said. “StormPay sees this partnership with auto racing as a fantastic opportunity to create a forum where any race related property, equipment and merchandise can be listed on the StormPay.com Auctions absolutely free for the benefit of buyers and sellers across the world.”

The first formal function for the Storm Pay.Com Dirt Late Model Series powered by Crate Racin’ USA will be the 2005 Awards Banquet this Wednesday night at the Wyndham Harbor Island Hotel in Tampa, FL, where Helm and Vaughn will introduce Storm Pay.Com CEO Girsky and President John McConnell.

“We’re excited to have both Steve Girsky and John McConnell join us at the Awards Banquet because not only are we going to be introducing them formally to the sport, but we will also be announcing an entirely new concept for Crate Late Model Racing nationwide,” Helm said. “StormPay.com will enable the series to branch out into areas that will benefit competitors, fans, and short tracks not only at the events, but also online through our respective websites.”

Girsky sees many opportunities for StormPay.com and the motorsports industry to work together to benefit everyone involved.

"StormPay.com plans to leverage its race sponsorship with a variety of marketing and promotional initiatives, including a sweepstakes, at-track hospitality, and cross-promotions with other race sponsors,” Girsky said. “StormPay already has an outstanding base of customers worldwide and now our partnership with the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series gives us another tool in reaching consumers and growing our business."

The first racing event under the Storm Pay.Com Dirt Late Model Series powered by Crate Racin’ USA will be the $10,000-to-win Jasper Engines Crate Late Model World Championship Race at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.

The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series powered by Crate Racin’ USA features dirt late model race cars powered by affordable “Crate Engines” sealed at the factory. Competitors pay one-tenth the price for a Crate Engine as they would for an open-rule dirt late model engine. The cost for a steel-head crate engine is $2,800 and the aluminum-head version is $4,800.

“After the East Bay event, we’ll be working full speed ahead towards finalizing our 2006 plans for the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series powered by Crate Racin’ USA,” Helm said. “We’re looking to announce the 2006 National schedule before the end of the year, and our newest project that we will announce on Wednesday night should be set shortly after the first of the year.”

Doesn't sound much like a business that that could be planning to 'cut and run' does it? :P

OK, now I understand what you meant, and I can assure you they are properly licensed and follow all regulations to the tee. I have had conversations with John about this in the past. However, I'm glad you
have contacted them and feel sure they will be able to provide the information you need to feel secure in using their services.

I appreciate the updates here and will watch for the responses that Patty gets! I've been watching StormPay as they've grown, but haven't yet "gone there".

They got (deserved or not - ???) some very bad press on several boards, very similar to what was posted above. I don't typically draw conclusions based on heresay - like Patty, do my research --- with caution!

I'll be watching and like Round says - excited to see someone making progress in competing with PP!!

Yes, for now. I remember the days when Billpoint would issue you your own rep who would call you back and help you. Paypal would also fall all over themselves for you and pay you for every person you brought them. These conveniences fall by the wayside when the company begins to grow. I'll wait and see what I hear about this company. Thanks for bringing it up. :-)
