|
|
Kaqoo.com is nearing Beta Testing. We now need experienced auction USERS to test what we have before we can release any code for Beta Testing.
Kaqoo is a brand new custom built software, not a copy of anything already on offer; this is Brand New!
If you wish to try the software and, help us out at the same time, please go here:
http://kaqoo.com/
and view the very simple instrutions.
The test site is here:
http://www.kaqoo.com/kaqoo2/client/index.php
The site is changing fairly often as we make final adjustments.
All data which is collected will be destroyed when Beta is ready, so please, do not list anything you wish to sell!
If you do not wish to register, please use the following username and password.

Newuser
I am happy to answer any questions, either through this Board or through our contact form.
Thanking you all in anticipation.

| I like the simple layout. I don't like that the registration isn't secure. Will be watching. |

Thanks Becky,
Interesting! Ok that is worth considering. Can you tell me why you feel an SSL registration would be important to you?

I also clicked on one of the auctions and the TOS requires a scroll bar to go left to right. It was really inconvenient to scroll up and down and then sideways to view the entire TOS line by line. Perhaps this was the fault of the person writing the description to keep it in bounds, though. Item number: 1100861184
I mean all of this constructively. |

Thanks Becky.
OK! First thing it is no problem to provide SSL, if people feel that is what they need.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is TOS?
So I can try to have this rectified, can you let me know which browser and at what resolution? 800x600? 1024x768?
All help appreciated!
All taken as constructive!
Regards

If a site has a statcounter it can easily determine resolutions stats.
I can only say from my sites that about 45% are using 1024x768, 31% 800x600, 14% 1280 x 1024 and the rest 1152 x 864.
Also operating systems and browsers used by customers need to be considered. A good site should pop up without having to scroll or getting all these weird symbols with ANY browser :)
I don't use IE in general due to all that problems it causes, so if a site does not work with Firefox I will not use it. More and more people come to the same conclusion and I think this is an important factor to be considered when starting a new site, espcially auction site. |

Becky, Thanks.
lotsofgoodstuff,
You said,

Are you getting weird symbols in Firefox? I'm not!
I do not generally use IE, only for checking sites, I do not have weird symbols in any browser when viewing in English. The only time I see a strange alphabet is when I view in Russian using the language selector. |

I would be really grateful if a few more people could test out the new software!
There is a user name and password at the top of this post and $1000 to spend!
Please give it a go and help us out....
Thanks. |

Hi Alan!
Just went on and registered under this nick. I am hoping that you are not going to over crowd the main page as most sites have done.
Having featured items, sellers and (if) stores are a great idea. But many sites overload the main page and some of them take an eternity to load.
I like the way it is simple for now and not suggesting it stay that way.
I would like to see more about the site itself. Such as links to different areas of the site and made so that people can easily find them on each page that they go to. Such as if there is a community? Making sure that it is known at the top of each page and can be seen. There are a few sites where either the link is not present where it can be seen readily or just not there.
Sellers as well as buyers NEED to see this link so that if sellers have a special going on, the buyers can easily access the forums to see. If the buyers are looking for something, the sellers need to see this readily also.
Just some opinions you might consider. Hope this helps you out some. |

Hi Zacksavenue!
Thanks for helping, we need all we can get!
All opinions welcome, good or bad!
As it says at the top, this is a pre-beta test to see how our software performs. This is all new and has features never seen elsewhere and; I mean anywhere! The trouble is, you can't see the features, yet.........
Right now we need to ensure that the site is working correctly and that we can go toward beta testing in the New Year.
Forums for users will be included in the production version.
Site design will be very functional, we cannot afford to lose speed for prettiness! That is one of the reasons the side menu changes when you login; initially it is very minimal, you only have extra options when you need them. If you explore the site you will see this happening all over the place.
If you are logged in and view your own items, you will only see features that are useful for you; you don't NEED to see your own feedback do you?
The site is designed for speed; it will become much, much faster.
You may want to check out the "account manager", we like it, it is quick and useful.
Right now we are working on plans to add more servers; following the Google example these will be low cost, high density machines with built in redundancy for greater speed.
Again, thanks for your help.
Anyone else? |
