|

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I just discovered Amazon does not ship Video Games to a Military address. Does this mean no one can ship Video Games to anyone in the military?
Or, can I go to the post office myself and ship it out to a military address?
Thanks. |

Some Amazon market place sellers refuse to sell to military address (including me) because tracking is not available to some apo/fpo address and if the buyer claims non-receipt Amazon will refund money and seller will loose both item and money.
Also some apo/fpo addresses have restrictions and you are not allowed to ship certain items.
Also items over $250 signature confirmation is impossible to get for many apo.fpo address.
Also most sellers just print postage for items online and drop it in post box.
Some military address need customs forms and it take too much time for a seller for an item or they have to go to post office or print and fill extra pages online and attach it to the package.
If you are sending something for someone related to you in military you can send it yourself by usps. But some zip codes have restrictions and you can go to usps website to read what you cannot ship to those addresses and also you have to attach customs forms on some shipments. |

I must be lucky cause I've shipped dozens of items to APO's using USPS, never had to fill out a customs form, and never had an item lost.
It doesn't seem right to me to NOT ship to our people in the military.
Even if it's more risky for me, I'd still do it. |

APO/FPO restrictions & customs forms requirements can be read at below usps link
Link
Signature confirmation is not available to apo/fpo addresses.
Delivery confirmation is available to most apo/fpo addresses.
There are lot of mail restrictions depending on location. |

So you simply insure the package.
If it gets lost, you file a claim.
I have never refused to ship to APO or FPO addresses, and I've never had a complaint filed against me either.
But I have gotten lots of thank you emails. |

| It's more than likely a region limitation set by the producers of the games to control where games are sold. APO/FPO are generally outside the US and would technically be considered foreign sales. |

APOs &n FPOs are considered to be domestic mail regardless where in the world they may lie. You may have to file a customs form, but they are still considered to be domestic. |

You are an idiot.
Media companies don't give rats a$$ about customs forms. If they choose to limit sales of an media to just the 50 states they will also restrict sellers like Amazon from shipping non-US locations.
And before you spout off some bogus rule about APO/FPOs being the same as any USA address they are not. 99% of them are in foreign countrys making quite legal to restrict sales to.

The above statement needs to be amended, as it seems that some people have a problem figuring out what it states.
APOs & FPOs are considered to be domestic mail by the Post Office.
Hopefully, that makes things more readily understandable.

Almost every CD or DVD I've ever sold has a statement on it, barring the item from being sold for export. Which is means that it is available for sale to the US, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the US Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Mariannas Island and Guantanamo Bay.
As far as APOs & FPOs are concerned, I have spoken with many of the labels, over the years, about this very subject, and not one of them ever forbade me from shipping their items to any US military base, anywhere in the world.
Perhaps it's due to their wanting to show respect to the those men and women who are serving in the armed forces, and their families.
So why don't you take your attitude and stuff it? |

I can tell you that Amazon (not referring to a seller on Amazon, but Amazon) does NOT ship Video Games to a military address. It is on their list of items not shipped to APO/FPO addresses, which includes not shipping DVDs. Probably does have something to do with not being able to confirm the buyer has received the item since tracking number stops in the US when packages continue on via military shipping to their overseas destination.
It's too bad. I like to use Amazon because of their low prices and their Prime free shipping. |
