|
|
I have been selling on ebay for 9 years. I have cooled off on ebay over the last 4 years somewhat due to fees and rule changes. I moved my merch to free classified listings in hobby forums I belong to. I have enough interest in my items to sell directly to interested groups on internet forums.
For items that do not move there in the forums, ebay is my "blowout" clearing house. I have learned how to keep ebay fees under control with selected added features, or no features added.
My question is concerning some items I am going to be selling that I recently acquired. I now have a fresh inventory of CDs that I think would do better at Amazon then ebay. Prices would be .99 $2.99 $4.99 and $9.99 (and $14.99 to $19.99 for a very select few) for the Amazon goods. The higher tickets that have potential to top $50 per item will get ebay listed. You always want to have bidding wars for those more rare and desirable tickets, and not screw yourself out of potential profits.
I need to know how exactly to keep fees the lowest at Amazon? At ebay I have it down cold. But at Amazon, I have only read that it is wise to not be the first person to ever list an item. As they charge you to be the first ever lister. What other things can I do to make sure my listing are lowest cost, and of course get exposure over the duration of listing.
I have been able to keep bay fees and pal fees combined at around 16% of sale prices. I would like to stay somewhere near that arena if possible at Amazon.
I thank you in advance, even for very small tips that can or might help.

Amazon will take roughly 30% of the action with their fees.
In your case, I'd suggest listing your items on half dot com, which is owned by eBay, but doesn't accept Paypal. Buyers are required to have a credit card on file.
half dot com charges a 15% fee, and pays the seller twice each month. The sellers are expected to ship within 3 days of the buyer paying for the item. half also sets the amount of shipping, and the seller gets most of the shipping charge (half keeps part of it).
half does have restrictions. No promotional or CD club items allowed. |

Thanks, and I think I will seriously consider Half. I just hope the part of shipping that is handed over to the seller is enough to ship the item.
I went and looked over the listings. It seems that if you can afford to undercut everone's prices out of the gate, or you are the only one with that item, it is a good deal.
The CDs I have (plus 1000s of LPs) are mostly not promos. 5% to 8% tops. So your suggestion is a good one. |
