eBay announced today the launch of the eBay Green Team Challenge, a program aimed at turning green shopping into a tangible environmental impact.

Under the program, the first 250,000 people to pledge to reuse on eBay, the company will protect an acre of rainforest in their name through a new collaboration with Team Earth, a coalition of non-governmental organizations, private sector companies and individuals convened by Conservation International.

Along with the launch of the Green Team Challenge, eBay has introduced a new green shopping site, designed to help people access green products.

Yeah. Green as in the colour of the heaps of cash they rake in. ebay is really full of it. Everyone knows ebay has been strategically moving away from the online auction business model, which made it a household name, towards a purely ecommerce portal type business. The ratio between new and used merchandise being offered on ebay continues to widen. Finding a true bargain or interesting item on ebay has become a frustrating, time consuming chore as its listings have become saturated with multiple postings of the same generic drop shipment rubbish you can buy at your local dollar store crap emporium or Walmart.

ebay admits it has been taking a hit in its bottom line in recent years. I wonder if they will ever figure out why?? Even the corporate whipping posts that are the American consumer have a limit to what they'll put up with.

My last transaction with ebay was March 09.10. I am through with ebay. Multiply this thousands of times and you get a picture of where ebay is heading.

anybody see the episode of 60 Minutes several weeks ago that featured the inventor of the Bloom Box?...they had Donahoe in person showing the host of that particular segment their bloom boxes that were operating on the eBay campus...basically a bloom box is a fuel cell that comes in several sizes and a bloom box that could supply the electrical needs of an average size home should be available within a few years and projected cost is around $2500.00..all speculation though but the developer has some serious financial backing...the next big thing maybe

Yet it wasn't that long ago when JD was quoted as wanting to get rid of the "flea market and garage sale" type of merchandise.

I think I will keep my used items out of eBay, yet I will send JD a link to where I will sell them, just to frustrate him.

Wow what a great idea!

I am certainly for stuffing Donny boy, Meg, and the rest of eBay's criminal work force into the recycling bailer at work.

Perhaps, ironically, I could sell mp3 songs of their screaming on eBay.
