eBay is running another auction listing sale on March 11, 2010, the fourth such sale since January when it announced its new fee structure that will go into effect at the end of this month. It ran a two-day 50%-off promotion on auction listings on February 9-10 and again on February 23-24, and ran a 1-day sale on March 2nd.

Sellers who list auction-style listings and have a 12-month Detailed Seller Rating of 4.5 or higher on all criteria will receive 50% off the standard Insertion Fees during Thursday's promotion.

Perhaps they are simply trying to make sellers think that auctions ending on thursday get as good of results as those ending on sunday.

They'd be wrong.

Maybe they are trying to keep a fleeing flock in the fold.

Predicting there will be another "Deal Day" before the big "Decrease" kicks in 4/1.

I listed 20 clothes patterns for the March 2, 50% off listing fee.I had started them all off at .99 and had BIN on each for about $3 each and listed it for 7 days.I didn't sell 1 by BIN and only sold 2 out of 20 patterns at .99. These patterns usually sell for $3 or more elsewhere.

They are fooling with the search engine. LOL

Almost everything ebay does these days smacks of desperation.Pretty much like the present goverment in the UK,a rudderless ship heading for the rocks.

Wow, desperation is definitely in the air, visits to Ebay or at least my site is down over 25% just since the last two months and the announcements of change.

Why would anyone want to sell items for 99 cents for a 35 cent or so profit??? I guess working for 10cents an hour is now the standard on ebay....save the promotions, fix the frickin' site, dump Donohue and his desperate measures and do some advertising about what you have, not the same old stuff as Walmart....?

Getting very hard to justify the upcoming PRICE RAISES (there are no deals for media sellers, only increase in listing fees, store fees and FVF fees. Any other category getting hit this badly??

Rather Russ getting Rather bored with ebay.

Has anyone noticed a significant decrease overall in the number of auctions? I have, at least in a the few categories I watch.

It certainly appears to be ebay's intention to move most sellers to fixed price, so I find all these "auction format" sales a bit schizophrenic.

I mean, doesn't it seem that ebay is actively trying to kill off auctions - succeeding - and now trying to encourage auctions?

It's bizarre...imho

Seems like there are fewer hits & watchers than ever before for BIN as well as auctions. Almost like "Dead" summer months!

Yet, alt venue/website sales are more than taking up the slack...Business, overall, continues to grow...even in this economy.

Comparisons of where sales are originating speak volumes!

Each year, Ebay sales go down while Alt site sales more than take up the slack.

Like buyers are finally seeing the light that we saw a few years ago.

Am thankful daily for finding PSU & taking the advise of wiser, more experienced sellers!

No more bizarre than a few years back, when it seemed that eBay wanted stores gone entirely, then shifted gears and started emphasizing them more.

Nice site. Is it easy to use? Rustic Style

I'm still looking for a stand alone that doesn't require a web designer to set up and operate.

I've been looking to buy a car (an old classic type, the modern ones have no interest for me) I bought the last two via ebay and then there was a good choice to pick from. Now,there are few indeed.
A lot that are on there are way overpriced and a load of adverts are for wheel nuts and merely provide contact details and a list of parts to pick from.
Ebay is losing ground to the alternative sites across the board and it flaps around like the proverbial headless chicken,no direction,no purpose.
I wonder how long before we hear the fat lady sing?.

I tried those once. I found that it didn't give people enough time to notice that the items were listed.

I tried it. I have quit selling on ebay but had 513 items still saved through my auction software. So, I listed them all at about 1/2 of what I normally ask.

Guess what? I sold exactly 22 of them and not a single bid above the openingt price.

So, I sold $198 and Ebay got $110.

If I had paid full price I would have lost money. As it was, ebay made more than I did.

Goes to proving my point that leaving the bay was a GOOD decision for me!

And, I passed on the latest round of discounted listings as just not worth my effort.
