|
|
Hi to everyone, been lurking for a while, and finally had to post. I'm new to dreamweaver, and am having problems. I have a banner, and several buttons on my page. I have saved them into the images folder that is in the website project I'm currently working on in dreamweaver. When I upload to the server, the only thing that shows up when you load the page is the background and the text that I have typed, no banner and no buttons. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I usually just fumble around new software until I get the hange of it, but this is really frustrating me.
Thanks,
Chris |

Chris,
did you upload the banner and the buttons also? You need to upload gfx/images in addition to the site you created with dreamweaver.
And make sure that they are in the correct directory. If you have them on your HD in a different directory such as "gfx" or "images" and inserted them into dreamweaver from that directory you need to create the same directory on your server. |

Hi Chris, and welcome! Congratulations for your exit from the "lurking" status!
Ditto on everything that lotsofgoodstuff said.
Good luck. Let us know how you make out on that. |

Ok, maybe I am under the wrong impression here. I thought that since they were saved in the images directory on my computer, that when I uploaded dreamweaver says uploading dependet file, and loads the images with it, that it changed the pointer in html to point to the correct file? I have one error with one button, but the rest get uploaded to the server when I upload the page. They are there, but they just don't load. i'm really get ticked at this thing. but I will upload them myself and make sure the directories are the same. thanks for the input

I finally got it to work. You guys were right, the directories on the server were different than those on my computer. I also learned that you can't use spaces in the directory names, it doesn't allow it. Thanks for your input.

| :) Guess that's why I pointed that out immediately. I made the same mistake once. |
