I know the auction count is down here, but it looks like this OLA might be right up my alley as it has more of my style of features I like and require as a selling venue..is Mr. Fain really going to make the improvements as promised? or is that hot air?

I did successfully purchase a few items there without incident.

As far as improvements that the owner intends to implement, that's a question that I can't answer.

As far as I know, you can try OLA without spending a lot of money, so perhaps you could experiment with a few listings to see how OLA works for you.

Good luck! :)

Pie, I know very little about OLA.

If I were you, I would go back and read some of the old OLA threads.

I tried selling there and at Specialist Auctions, and had no luck at either site. Having fairly good sales at Bonanzle, and it's such a friendly site. Unless it has changed fairly recently, I don't think OLA feeds their listings to Google, so you would need to promote like crazy on Facebook and Twitter and other like sites.

Those sites help you get eyeballs on your products no matter where you list, so it's a good idea to try it and see which works best for you.

it seems now when I read some of the OLA related threads here, I find a lot of hostility between the 2 "camps" for lack of a better word... they either love it or hate it, there is no luke-warm feelings in regards to OLA...would you believe when I googled OLA it can also refer to a toilet in Taiwanese? LOL!...please don't get them started(talking to myself)...

My opt to that question would be 'Hot Air'... lol lol
You ask if Ola is still 'accepting applications' ? Applications for what? Employment?
Last I heard they were laying off and cutting hours for their scant few employees.. so I doubt that they are taking 'applications'.... Betty Lou

One thing is certain, if you want something ''up your alley'' OLA is likely to place it right where ya don't want it.

Pie~ I dont know about improvements, but he sure is driving the website down by not doing anything. As I posted before, The Powers to be need to focus on making OLA more noticeable. Either change the name or spend the big bucks to get noticed!

If you settle with OLA, be sure to advertise and market your store/auctions because they will not do it. It is not like Ebay...

PS: a warning to save you.. never post anything negative over on the OLA chat boards or you will never have a sale...sigh...

Just from my experience with the site- I would almost guarantee you it is hot-air. Ola also has a habit of rearranging and totally changing the promises given, when you sign up. Many were disappointed when they were told, that with a founding membership, they would have UNLIMITED listings- which ola changed to only 8,000. Of course with the purchase oa ANOTHER membership- and they could have another 8,000 listings !!

I too, thought Ola was 'right up my alley' when I joined. I did enjoy the chats and made a lot of friends- However, quickly discovered the 'cliques' in the chats.. if THEY didn't like you for any reason- others would be afraid to buy from you...

Someone mentioned that you shouldn't say anything AGAINST OLA, in the chats- or you could get kicked off of the chats... But the case is- if you say anything against Ola ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET- THAT will get you suspended from Ola's chats as well...

There are only a few special 'Valued Members' who are free to say and do what they please on Ola- without getting 'bumped' from the chat room-
One being a special friend of the Fains- This ONE practically runs the site- wins the contests, was chosen to co-host the now de-funk radio show, and sent to Las Vegas to the e-commerce get-together-
You DON'T want to cross THIS 'VALUED MEMBER- CHEERLEADER' or you will be out on your nose !!

I suggest you join Ola- and come back in a year and tell us how you like it.... as I have done. Betty Lou
