A 43-year-old northeast Dallas man apparently upset over the new health care law will be arraigned Friday in federal court on a charge that he threatened to kill President Barack Obama.
Brian Dean Miller admitted to Secret Service agent that he posted a death threat against the president on Craigslist's Dallas website March 21, according to a criminal complaint.
"People, the time has come for revolution," the post read. "It is time for Obama to die. I am dedicating my life to the death of Obama and every employee of the federal government. As I promised in a previous post, if the health care reform bill passed I would become a terrorist. Today I become a terrorist."
That night, Congress passed a health care overhaul, which ignited the ire of conservatives across the country and triggered numerous death threats to political leaders.
A concerned citizen from Arlington alerted Secret Service agents in Dallas to the post that same day. Agents subpoenaed Craigslist and AT&T and tracked the posting to an e-mail address used by someone at a house on Town Hill Lane near Lovers Lane and Skillman Street.
On March 24, two agents went to the house and spoke to Miller's mother. She said that her son was asleep in his room, but that she recalled he was using the computer in the kitchen on the night the agents said the threat was posted.
