DDos attack shuts down Ecrater for a couple hours.
On the Internet, a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is one in which a multitude of compromised systems attack a single target, thereby causing denial of service for users of the targeted system. The flood of incoming messages to the target system essentially forces it to shut down, thereby denying service to the system to legitimate users.
I am truly glad that ecrater was able to get back up as quick as it did from this vicious attack.
During the week of February 7th through 11th, 2000, this type of attack emerge as a major new category of attack on the Internet. They took down many sites, including Yahoo, Buy.com, eBay, Amazon, Datek, E*Trade, and CNN. The victims were unreachable for several hours each. |

I was just getting ready to send one of my regulars over to my eCrater Store and I can't get in. Is anybody else having issues this morning?

| I've been trying to list items; text will load but not photos. This has been going on for some hours now. So I'm hiding the items until I can add photos. |

The images in the eCRATER store, when initially uploaded are saved on a temporary eCrater server. The port 8080 is used to access the temporary server and many firewalls block access to port 8080. After the initial upload the files are transferred to the permanent server after a time period. Once the files are transferred to the permanent server, you should be able to view the images. The time frame can be several days. If you right click on the blank image place holder and view the image URL, you will see “tmpk.ecrater.com:8080 in the URL. |

|
|
| Hi. I'm new to the forums but not to auctioning. I haven't been able to get on to Ecrater, although I just received an order from there, so I know the site is up and running. To be honest, I can't remember when the last time I was on there, but since I have several hundred items on the site, I'm sure it was within the last week. Can anyone give me any suggestions to help me to access the site?? Not only can I NOT get into my store....I can't even bring up the Ecrater website. HELP!! Much thanks. Joyce |

HookedOnCrafts, I don't get it. Yesterday and today I logged the eCarter site without problem. I have antivirus, firewall, Firefox with Adblock, and lot of things in the taskbar and I can enter to the site without problem.
Also, do you remember the name of your store?
Sorry to look so rude, but you are example of a seller that let the alternatives died.
I don't have sales in Blujay since Nomvember 2008, but I don't leave the store alone. At least I logged to it 1 time every week. And the other sites like Bonz, Atomic, Wensy, etc maybe 2 times every 3 weeks. |

| HookedOnCrafts, just logged off the site. No problems getting in or out. Are you sure you are using the correct password. I'm assuming you know your store name. elpereles is right you should log in and check your alt. site stores now and then. Other than store name and password, if that doesn't work maybe you should email admins. Just a thought. Good Luck |
