Hi Everyone, I am wondering if anyone can confirm the number of images you can use on an Amazon listing. I called them and asked them and they told me it is 8 images. I am not sure though as coming from ebay I don't really trust what the staff tells me. Or maybe Amazon is different and actually has some degree of customer service. Also, do they have supersized image option? Thanks!

Hey CC

I believe it's eight images at Amazon. They're all free (like pretty much every other site other than ebay) There isn't an option for supersized, but if the shopper clicks on the image, it is expanded.

Remember. At Amazon your image becomes part of their catalog and other sellers may use it. On other sites (like ebay) some sellers steal your images and description (by cut and paste) anyway.

Amazon says that items with pictures tend to sell something like 60% better than those without photos. I believe it. In about 2 1/2 years of selling there, I've never sold an item without a photo. I try not to list them without pics, but if I'm in a hurry, I sometimes do. You can ad photos to your listings later, but they don't show up on the main catalog search. They only show up if the buyer actually looks at the item listing.

So, I would suggest always including at least one photo. I find it best to list my item as a seperate listing (from other sellers in the catalog) Amazon will automatically lump your item in with others if you let them. Try to make your listing as unique as possible, by title, date, color etc. Sometimes they still put your item with things that aren't the same though, so you have to keep an eye on them.

The place to make your item and your service stand out is in your individual condition blurb. Some sellers list nothing in that section, or just a generic statement like "we ship within 24 hours" or something. I've found that I can often sell (usually for higher prices) ahead of them if I'm pretty detailed about the item - color, size, condition, etc etc Many buyers appreciate the time spent.

For the most part, I have no problems with Amazon. Their fee schedule is hard to understand. And, of course, their fees are high. But, I can also get higher prices for my stuff on Amazon, and it more than makes up for the fees. Really depends on what you're selling.

portocall,

Thanks for the insights! So do you now or have you in the past sold on ebay? It seems to me that items that may sell for $5 on ebay sell for $20+ on Amazon so I hear you on the increase in profits and I too feel the same in terms of gladly paying a little extra in fees.

Any other experiences you can share with some new Amazon seller to be? Thanks!

I think Amazon is more cut out for those selling new items? Don't see how they can use one photo for all listings? I want to SEE what I'm getting- not a 'stock' photo. Betty Lou

seewhatimsellingnow,

Thanks for your input. Amazon allows you 8 photos. I agree with you on the stock photos. I HATE that more than anything!

I just made another purchase from Amazon, again yesterday. Once again, it took FOREVER- During my last purchase they didn't recognise my password- and after a LONG talk with them on the phone- we redid everything- updated my credit card- got a new password, etc. etc.

This time- it happened again (I go through this everytime I try to make a purchase on Amazon) Once again- I had to UPDATE my credit card information (although I['d done it previously- it didn't recognise the new password they'd given me) I finally got the purchase through and THEN- Once again- recieved a notice that my purchase could NOT be completed because my credit card needs to be updated- Unbelievable! I went BACK in (now it recognises the password they gave me) and re-updated my credit-card info (the expiration date keeps bouncing back to the original expiration date) and it FINALLY went through- But I would NEVER purchase from Amazon unless I had a good hour- or hour and a half, to complete the purchase.

I don't know WHAT their problem is- At one time I had an account as a buyer and another as a seller- When I closed my seller account- that's when all of these problems began.

Buying on Amazon- for me- is like pulling teeth- and I never have a problem on any other intrernet site. Betty Lou

Hi Everyone, I am new to selling on Amazon and was wondering if I can in fact send the customer an email after they buy from me on Amazon? Or is it set up so that only Amazon has control of the contacting the customer? Thanks!

You are way behind in your information. Ebay gives you 12 free pictures, and has for quite some time now. Bad information on your part about Ebay.

Hello Otter,

>is there any way to know how many times your items have been veiwed on amazon?

Sadly, no.

>mine dont show after 12 hrs using EXACT same title as others that do show.

Normally new listings show up in a few minutes to an hour, rarely longer. However, Amazon handles listings differently than other sites. A "new" product is one that isn't already in their catalog. If you list an item with the same title as one already in their catalog, it will automatically be combined with an existing listing, and have the same ASIN as the same item sold by other sellers. I'd click on the listings with the same title and see if you are listed as a seller. Sometimes the merge happens when you first list, and sometimes it happens later on. I'd suggest you keep an eye on your listings, as these merges aren't always accurate.

For example, your $5 widget might get merged with a $500 product because the title is similar. Doesn't make for good feedback.
