eBay is running a free-listing promotion for up to 100 auction format listings, no matter the starting price of the item. Sellers who have an eBay Store subscription do not qualify for the promotion, which runs from August 3 - September 7, 2010.

The 100 limit is in addition to the standard 100 free auction listings/month eBay offers for items with a starting price of under one dollar, for which eBay Store subscribers are also ineligible to receive.

I was told by a good cyber-friend(remember Ocean?) that eBay has a 100 free listings auction style format special going on for all this month of August?..how come eBay has not notified me of this special? is it because I have a store subscription and they don't want me to drop that to take advantage of this promotion? what is your opinion?

Yes
Store people already get cheaper listings.
They have done this 3 or 4 times now.
If I had an ebay store I would start to think about ditching it.
They dont care about you anymore.

I just thought it odd that they did not email me or at a minimum have it on general announcements on their website...I ditched it within a few minutes of my original post , once I found out they would not charge me for a few pics I used of theirs in order to get "my money's worth" with the subscription..nhonestly, I saw no difference from the "old search" at 3 cents an item(average) compared to "core search" at 20 cents...took me awhile (about 4 months) to revert back to auction style listings w/o a sub, but if sales or as was said earlier here, "return on investment" was not improving but actually getting worse, something had to be done, or get changed.. my sales for the last 30 days on eBay is worst I have seen for nearly 2 years...

Hi Everyone,

I have to say I love it! Pay the listing fee only if it sells and you can sell starting your listing at any price not just .99 cents is a GREAT IDEA! Ebay should make this permanent. This may just encourage people to list items they have stored away and bring Ebay back to it's previous glory. This is a good first step anyway. Any thoughts? I love the Ebay Bucks program too! So they are doing some things right.

Excellent! Glad to hear it's working for you.

I don't do auctions myself, but I've actually been having a very good summer. A LOT less competition in my area on ebay these days.

At 5 cents a listing, I've also started listing some items in 2 categories - for an extra 5 cents, why not get the exposure.

CC13 - I missed this announcement where did you hear this. Is this the announcement about a week ago that excludes store owners?

No this is for everyone! It's great. From August 7 to September 3 or something like that you can list any item as an auction starting at any price (not just .99 cents) and list up to 100 or maybe even more I'm not sure but at least 100. They should just make it permanent and if they did they would not only make more money but would fill up the site with all the old hard to find rare items people now would have no fear of loss and would list the items on ebay making it more like it was in terms of finding rare old items.

CC13 - This is the same one I was talking about. You need to look at the exclusions. If you have a store you do not get this special pricing. there are other exclusions as well.

You need to be more careful in announcing these specials as it will hurt many sellers if they do not see this as well.

The best way to survive on eBay especially with top rated sellers getting the top spot is to get two eBay accounts-One with the store and one without so you keep switching depending on where the free listing is at-the last one from 3-7th was for none store owners-Use this secret and you might pay no listing fees for awhile-Best of luck!

I agree with shine. I have two ID's and neither one has a store now, but one of them did until a couple of months ago. I can list on both and make it 200 free listings. I just can't seem to bring myself to jump back in...even for free, though. Or when they have a store special I can list on one ID for that one and on the other for this type special if I ever open the store back up.

I listed a few auctions at 99 cents and got a total of 5 views in one week.

Ebay really is broken.

On ebid I get that many views per listing per day !

Digmen1,

I know that is what I have been saying and then others started to say it was my fault or I wasn't listing my items properly or that my items where not desired. "Ebay is really broken" is the truth. How it got so broken is beyond me. Ebid here I come.

When you start listing on ebid, make them auctions with BIN or just BIN and make them run for 7 days and relist. Then they will rise to the top of their categories and they will be seen.
And dont use all caps, or Google won't like them.

Thanks for your support Digman1!

I will use your generous wisdom wisely. Anything else you can offer someone seriously joining Ebid with a vengeance?

Doing this today. I already have an Ebid account so I am half way there. I always thought it was worse than Ebay just because .... Well I don't know probably just because of all Ebays brainwashing and marketing.

I have had it. I mean no sales with traffic is the sellers fault 100%. But no sales with no traffic is the venues fault 100%. Let's start calling a spade a space here folks. We are all in the same boat and we are getting less and less for more and more of our hard earned dollars.

Almost arguably to the point of getting NOTHING for our money.

Why does ebay not do this. Have it so that you search for say "Green Plate"

and it shows up EVERYTHING remotely close to this in the search and then before you start your search it has it broken down further into 5 categories or "Green Dish" "Green Bowl" "Green China" etc. etc. You get the idea. But limit it to just 5 sub categories under the original "Green Bowl" search and before the "Green Bowl" wide range search results. That way people could go into other categories that maybe they didn't even think of or find many items that are mis-listed (not by me as I have learned those 55 characters in the search is EVERYTHING. I do not use WOW, LOOK, NEW, or any other than what describes the actual item. I do not use !!! or fill up my listings with other useless (in fact harmful with the search engines if you did not know this!) I don't even put NR in my listings if I run an auction at No Reserve. The point is the search function is fine. I have more than enough key words, perfect over 500 feedbacks at 100%, Quality unique items for the most part from a wide range of categories. I have been on Ebay for over 10 years now. I know a few things about listing properly. In many ways with all that is involved now with selling on Ebay it has become somewhat of a 'trade' in it's own right along with electricians or plumbers or any other trade. It is NOT me or my products.

I would like to get on the loud speaker and say "THE EBAY SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING" to all the spies on this website. The traffic has dried right up. It's incredible and I never thought I would see it get this bad. When I am having to go with Ebid to survive over Ebay you know something is definitely wrong. I wonder if the shareholders get print of reviews of some of these posts? I would love to know that they do.

This guy you got running this company into the ground John Donahue has got to go soon for everyones good.

FIRED!
