Auctionbytes.com: Seller Needs Advice on Leaving eBay
To the Editor,
I enjoy reading AuctionBytes and always look forward to the Letters To The Editor section. I am wondering if some of the loyal members might be able to share their experiences with leaving eBay.
Although I have only been selling on eBay for 2 1/2 years, I am finding it extremely difficult to continue. My main reason would be the fees of course and the second reason is due to the stress, and the last reason would be from reading all of the blogs here and elsewhere on how eBay is treating their sellers.
The constant worry of dsr ratings, international buyers complaining about shipments taking too long, and the general lack of support I feel that I receive when I contact eBay for any issue. I have so much money invested in product, I simply cannot just walk away, but I am thinking that eBay is simply not the place to sell anymore.
I am frustrated that eBay and PayPal always side with the buyer-no matter what the case may be. A recent example of this would be that I sold a cosmetic item listed as one color with a specific finish, the buyer did not like the finish and immediately opened a PayPal claim. The description that I used for listing this item came directly from the manufacturer. I had told the buyer to return it to me and that I would refund and I offered to pay for return shipping, but she went and opened a claim anyways.

For reasons unknown, Ebay decided with the leaving of Meg to ramp up the fear factor on Ebay against sellers. Ebay actually used to be fun! can any here remember those days? FUN.... Yes! I can promise you one thing, those days are long gone. Also long gone are the days of reasonable fees and abundant buyers.
I sell in numerous places, I got a hot sale on Ecrater last night, paid at once but it was paypal... now if we can just educate the buyers to use alt methods of paying...
I think Ebay weighed the obvious results clearly and decided it would be fine to scare the hell out of sellers because a fearful seller is an obedient seller- using a massive amount of new rules and Insane Feedback system the stage was set- Rule #1 - NO MORE FUN. those not complying to the new regime rules can leave.. Ebay does not care. Meg Robbed us all of our money, donahoe robbed us of any dignity we had left. so those left selling are just where they want us. But I predict the day will come in the very near future that Ebay will be regretful for the ways they have overcharged and taken all the fun out selling/buying.
You have to see the humor in it but what i say is 100% true. |
