eBay have announced a total revamp of the eBay community pages to include new discussion boards, videos, social media integration and updated answer center and groups. The new community hub will go live on the 8th September for eBay UK and Ireland.

Be prepared for the discussion boards be “restructured and compressed to reflect the key topics of discussion by members”. Reading between the lines that implies that some boards are likely to be closed, merged or combined into the new boards.

One feature of the new functionality will be the ability to create user profiles with avatars and signatures as well as a public profile. In the answer center users that participate will accrue points to gain levels starting at Apprentice and moving through Junior, Senior and Graduate with the top level being Professor.

One major change will be limitations for posting IDs, if you have a feedback score of 10 or less you’ll be limited to ten posts per day on the new discussion boards. If you’ve got a current posting ID with less than 10 feedback it’s time to make some quick trades on eBay to ensure that you can carry on participating from the 8th September.

Threads on the current forums will be migrated across to the new boards so long as they’re not more than six months old. Groups inactive for six months or more will be deleted but questions and answers in the answer centre will be kept from the last three years.

I think ebays been stung by some posts making for uncomfortable reading in Ebay towers.Rather than reply or take on board any criticism, in typical ebay fashion they are getting rid of it by pretending it will go away.

Article states"Be prepared for the discussion boards be “restructured and compressed to reflect the key topics of discussion by members"

IE, yeah ebay!!!! :D No negative posts allowed.
Overstock/auctions took this same approach many years ago and look at it now. Can you say ghost town?

I think "deleted" is the word you were thinking of or meant to write.

I'm rather looking forward to my first warning from the new 'hub' for mentioning alternate sites etc. I think if you do it too many times you are defrocked in front of the whole ebay community and from that day forth they are all forbidden to mention your ebay name.

I would expect you'd be banned from posting in the boards if you get nailed mentioning other sites. I would think even PSU mentioned or linked would get you one step closer to NRU'd as well as banned from the boards. They will really try and keep these new boards clean, that I am sure is the whole point of a new start. It is a way to delete the dirt, and make it look like just "more changes to impact sellers."

Not much need to pretend they are a 'community' anymore.
The only board I ever followed regularly over there is the Pottery & Glass Discussion forum, it's been on it's knees dying for a long time anyway.

Update:

"eBay UK Delays New Community Hub Due to Tech Issues"

eBay UK announced it would delay launching the new version of its Community hub by two weeks. It was originally scheduled to go live on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie on Wednesday.

eBay notified participants in its eBay Groups communities that they would have to transfer their original content over to the new site due to to technical difficulties that make it impossible for eBay to automatically transfer the content to the new platform.
