I have tried to get them to accept me as a jewelry seller on Amazon a couple of time and got rejected without explanation. Is there a tip or something for next time I try?

They're a little rough about that. It took me about two years to get approved. Here's what you do:

1) sell something in an approved category on Amazon; make a ton of sales, get excellent scores, then reapply. OR:

2) have a very active website where you sell jewelry and can prove it. Be prepared to open your financial books to them to verify your turnover. Your outside business should be a "real" business that pays taxes, has a D&B ranking, has a dedicated phone line in its own name, and a PayDex credit score. They check all of this. Also be prepared to show receipts for your inventory. OR:

3) List your jewelry under "Everything Else" for a few weeks until they cancel your account. (just kidding, don't do that.)

It seems like a royal pain, but honestly, if you can pull it off, it's worth it. Amazon sells a shocking amount of jewelry all over the world.

@ Schistosomiasis

That's very informative, and potentially helpful information... thanks for presenting it! :)

I didn't even realize that Amazon sold their own jewelry- and other items! I thought the items on Amazon were Amazon seller's items! LOL- So Amazon's sellers are actually their competition? No wonder they make it so hard for sellers to get their ltems listed on Amazon.

I just looked at a lot of the Amazon jewelry, and was sort of shocked at the poor reviews/feedbacks. Broken stones, ultra thin chains that break, smaller than expected, etc. etc.

As far as 'trying' for two years to get your items listed on Amazon- You have more patience than I do- lol, and if you can show them the results of your very active website- where you are already selling your jewerly- Why would you want Amazon?

Still- I wish I could list my vintage jewerly on Amazon- but I'm through jumping through hoops just to sell my items. Betty Lou

I'll add two more comments:

1. They treat all "jewelry" sellers the same, whether or not you're selling real gold and diamonds, or (like me) just inexpensive stuff.

2. If you have huge jewelry sales on Ebay, you get a personal invitation snail-mailed to you to sell jewelry on Amazon. Then they act like they don't know what you're talking about when you contact them about it.

Strange folks.

Amazon is the LAST place I look for anything. I did just purchase a blueray dvd player from that site (it came- with WALMART and SAMS stickers all over it. I have also bought a couple of books- which took forever to find.
My last purchase took one hour to complete- My password didn't work- they gave me another, which didn't work either.. and I was on the phone with them forever- For 'security purposes' they wanted to know the last four digits of the credit card I'd used last (which I didn't know) Had to dig through my credit cards and FINALLY found a number they liked. They had my name, address and ALL info about me- and still needed that last purchase info. It was SUCH a hassle! My hubby kept saying "Just hang up!" LOL- but after an hour, I did get my purchase completed.

I had also wanted to email the seller with a question, but couldn't do that. I will shop Amazon, in a pinch- but it's never been pleasant.

I have searched using keywords for items- and a BAZILLION items come up- which have NOTHING to do with the keywords I put in.

I sold books on Amazon for quite awhile- as a Premire (?) member- Sold a whole three books- after selling fees and membership fees- I made nothing. If they ALREADY had a book listed- the same as mine- I had to list under THAT person's listing- who's pictures did not match mine.

Hey Betty again all I can say is someone doesn't like you out there.

I don't sell on Amazon. EBay, Bonanza, and my web site are enough for me. I do however buy from them once in a while.

I have purchased three ebooks and two hoover vacuum's in the last year. The second vacuum was for my mother in law. We liked the first one so much that we got her one too. The price was cheaper than wally world, and it was delivered right to the front door new in the box. All I had to do was put in my email and password and all my info was good to go. I may have had to enter the last four or the # from the back of the card but they all processed right away with no problems.

I certainly don't use Amazon as much a eBay because they carry very few vintage Accutrons at very high prices.

I guess I could sell there as my prices would be very competitive, but like I said before between the three sites I already sell on I don't have time to add another.

Again I'm sorry to hear about your problems with another site.

Just like the other day, I went into Bonanza to make a purchase- and the site didn't recognize my user name or password! LOL- THAT took forever too- but support finally got it straightened out and found me!

There's a big ol cloud hangin' over my head! LOL- Betty Lou

That's not why, honey.
Amazon is ultimately finaincially reponsiible for their transactions, and jewelry (at the least gold/diamond/expensive stuff) is a high risk category. Think about it: if you had a site like Amazon's, would you want to be responsible for every unscreened seller that said they were selling real gold?
Every chargeback would fall on you when the buyers found out the item was fake. This is also why they place an account under review when a new seller starts selling large amounts of electronics, another high risk category.

If Amazon didn't want competition, they just wouldn't have a marketplace. Trustworthy sellers are a benefit to them. Your buddy from Hong Kong who sold you the plastic necklace would be a liability. They need to be able to tell the difference.
