These are the busiest times of the year for many sellers and, right around this time, you're probably involved in an intense mixture of buying and selling. You're selling and processing purchases and shipments as quickly as your fingers can move. At the same time, you've got to finish your shopping for family and friends. It's never too late to boost security for both yourself and your customers - many of whom are shopping and paying for purchases using cell phones, tablets, laptops, netbooks, and other mobile devices.
For many consumers, smartphones are a research tool: they shop online using the phone, and make the purchase using a computer. According to the National Retail Federation, more than one-fourth of American adults with a smartphone (26.8 percent) will use these devices to research or make holiday purchases this season. That number jumps to 45 percent among young adults 18 to 24 years old.
The popular payment service PayPal is seeing more business than ever this year, and a greater proportion of mobile purchases than ever before. The company reports that between 2008 and 2011, mobile transactions on PayPal increased sixfold, from $25 to $141 million.
