If I do not use ebay and instead use my own website will paypal charge a monthly subscription charge on top of the fee charges for recieving payments?
I am thinking about setting up a website.
Thanks. |

| The quick answer is No. You will only be charged when a transaction is handled by them. |

From a personal perspective...I don't take PayPal on my site. I only use Google Checkout. It was easy to integrate on my site, and I am no programmer! They don't mess with your money, and don't charge a monthly fee to use the service, just the transaction fees. I feel their fraud protection-both ways-is far superior to Paypal's.
Unless something has changed, Paypal only charges the monthly fee for its Virtual Terminal processing, say if you are accepting credit cards at a show with a manual swiper. You give your customer a copy of the slip, then go home and complete the transaction on your computer. |

Thanks again. |

Okay thanks. I have looked at google check out and its features. I sell multiple items all in one sale regularly. This is because I sell plants and people often want 3 or 4 of them at once. Google say you need a seperate shopping basket bought seperately to add to there check out. I am not 100% sure but thats what appears to be said.
Are any shopping basket free ? and would I also have to pay Paypal for a Paypal shopping basket also? How much are shopping baskets on paypal or else where?
Oh... just to add I think i may have read somewhere that shopping carts often come free with a hosted website. Is that often true?
Thanks for your help. |

Please read. Long time Google Checkout was cheaper in transactions now it cost the same like Paypal.

If not using ebay do I require a shopping basket with paypal or are there some simple settings to adjust for multiple item selling. Or do I have to pay for a shopping basket?
Thanks again! |

There are buttons at the PP site that you can make for your web site. You fill in a form and then copy the HTML they give you into your site. No charge for that.
But if you want to give customers options, you are better off getting a cart.
Many carts are free or very low charge.
