The counts for these sites have been fixed
eBid
CQout
YourHighBid
These sites have been removed
AuctionQuest
uBidRight
We are looking for some more sites to add to the auction site count. Please let us know if you know of any sites that fit these criteria
-At least a 10,000 listings
-Diverse Items ie The majority of the listings can't be all baseball cards
-Diverse listers ie The majority of listings can't come from a small group of sellers. We won't accept a site with 4 members doing 90% of the listings.
-No specialty sites at this time. |

Hello,
Lot of your members are waiting for you to add our site Delcampe Online Auctions to your Auction Site Count. We agree that we are specialized in collectibles, but all kinds of collectibles !
So...
"-At least a 10,000 listings"
We have today 39 935 390
"-Diverse Items ie The majority of the listings can't be all baseball cards"
We have 18,000 categories, all kind of collectibles not only an area like baseball cards. Here: http://www.delcampe.net/page/category/language,E,cat,-5,var,Other-collections.html
"-Diverse listers ie The majority of listings can't come from a small group of sellers. We won't accept a site with 4 members doing 90% of the listings."
We have now more than 30,000 sellers on our site.
"-No specialty sites at this time."
And why not ? You can just add a column "Specialty"... you can seriously not ignore a website used by 30,000 sellers and counting 39 million items. Don't you agree ?
Respectful regards,
Sebastien Delcampe |

|
|
When I first joined this site the other day, I spotted a chart thing where someone had put the top auction sites / selling platforms and how many listings each of these sites had. I think ebay was about 18 million, whereas ebid was about 4 million (I could be wrong though).
Does anyone know where I can find this again, as I've looked everywhere and I can't find it lol
Thank you |

| Overstock and yourhighbid have been removed from the auction site count since they no longer exist. Bonanza has also been removed because they changed their format and I can no longer get the counts. If anyone knows anyone at Bonanza they can contact me so we can work on getting them re-added. |

@Psunite
Glad to see a post from you !
I don't fancy your chances with Bonanza
They are very secretive, it is hard to find the number of listings on their site, as it is hidden away and changes all the time.
They are VERY paranoid.
What about adding etsy and ruby lane ?
And please can we have a sub forum for ebid.net. which is the second largest auction site (in terms of number of listings) |

Digman, I can answer about etsy. first, remember when PSUnite started this, niche sites weren't allowed, etsy is a niche site. AND etsy doesn't allow spiders. So if the spiders or whatever method PSUnite uses to collect the data, are disallowed at the site, then he can't collect the data.
Read the etsy user agreement. No electronic means of harvesting info allowed, this includes scrapes and others. they allow google and other SE spiders, but nothing else. |

I guess etsy is not on the list because it's considered a niche site. But the site now has lots of variety.
Etsy is now the site with the second largest number of items behind ebay - Etsy has over 12 million items listed. The vintage section of etsy has over 2 million listings - antiques, furniture, books, clothes, collectibles etc - anything prior to 1983.
By the by: I just realized (I'm a bit slow I guess) that "etsy" came from "etc" e t c et-c

11. Access and Interference
Etsy may contain robot exclusion headers which contain internal rules for software usage. Much of the information on Etsy is updated on a real-time basis and is proprietary or is licensed to Etsy by Etsy's users or third-parties. You agree that you will not use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access Etsy for any purpose whatsoever, except to the extent expressly permitted by and in compliance with Etsy's API Terms of Use or otherwise without Etsy's prior express written permission. Additionally, you agree that you will not:
1.Take any action that imposes, or may impose, in Etsy's sole discretion, an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on Etsy's infrastructure
2.Copy, reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, distribute or publicly display any user Content (except for your Content) or other allowed uses as set out in The DOs & DON'Ts of Etsy from the Site except to the extent expressly permitted by and in compliance with Etsy's API Terms of Use or otherwise without the prior express written permission of Etsy and the appropriate third party, as applicable
3.Interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Site or any activities conducted on the Site
4.Bypass Etsy's robot exclusion headers or other measures Etsy may use to prevent or restrict access to Etsy
There is a link to their API... so if you want etsy on the ASC... TALK TO ETSY! |

Well I think etsy is no longer a niche site and will 12 million listings it should be on the list.
But as Mojavelyn says it does not allow spider crawling so therefore it can't be on the list! |

| Its still a niche site, its only vintage, antiques, and handcrafteds and supplies. if I list there, it could only be my older books or handcrafted items. |

That's a pretty big niche to me.
Delcampe is a niche site - stamps only |

Hmmmm... not only stamps ;)
http://www.delcampe.net/page/category/cat,0,language,E.html
... you find all kind of collectibles! ... but I can only agree that collectibles is a niche... and we are proud of that :)
But, if PSU don't want to integrate niche sites in their listing... why don't they simply make a second list only for niche sites ?!? This will be useful for their members.
On Delcampe, we clearly display our stats... We presently have more than 40 millions items listed... by far more than other listed sites.
Kind regards, Seb Delcampe |

I wonder if there is room for a site that just lists the listings say monthly and gathers them manually from all sources.
That gets around the etsy situation where they ban spiders.
And round the Bonanza situation where they hide their stats.
We don't really need daily figures, who cares if a site goes up or down by a few hundred thousand.
Its is the trends that we are (should be) interested in.
Eg which site is doing well sales wise and listings wise.
And list all sites! |
