I recently ordered a new food-chopper through Ebay. I was surprised when it arrived from...AMAZON? (item 150556689676) Is Amazon now using Ebay to sell their items? Isn't Amazon Ebay's competition? I don't get it. If I'd wanted to buy from Amazon, I would have gone to Amazon.
Actually, I do prefer purchasing from Amazon, as they DO give you a choice of payment options, unlike Ebay who insists on Paypal only.
So now I see that our competion, as sellers, includes ALL the big well-known Department stores AND Amazon.
It was so nice when our competition was only other Ebay (mom & pop) sellers. We can't fight all this competition. Time to pull out. Betty Lou |

| Actually, Amazon doesnt sell on eBay. Chances are, the seller buys cheap Amazon items and resells them on eBay himself. For example. Say Amazon sells the food chopper for 15 dollars and free shipping if you have a Prime Account (75 dollars a year to be a Prime member). Seller on eBay sells it for 24.99 plus shipping, maybe 6-7 dollars. The seller only needs to keep one food chopper in stock in case he has to ship overseas or Amazon runs out of stock. All other sales, he just has Amazon ship directly to the customer. He makes a profit off of buyers who do not know how to shop around for themselves. As a buyer, you shouldnt get upset about this, in the future, you should do your homework better. |

| Amazon also does fulfillment, even if you don't sell on Amazon. A non-Amazon seller can send stock to Amazon for storage and shipment through Ebay or their own websites. |

LOL- I always do my homework when shopping online. I did find the same item on Amazon, but it was a little more expensive than what I bought on Ebay. (Item plus shipping- Amazon=$18.92) (Item plus shipping- Ebay= $17.98) I'm understanding now how this works- The Ebay seller is actually using Amazon as a 'drop-shipper.
When you order $25 or more on Amazon, you may qualify for free shipping. My seller, obviously, buys many- thus gets the free shipping. While I would have been purchasing only ONE and paying for shipping. This way- the Ebay seller profits the shipping amount charged.
I'd REALLY be interested in knowing more about this $75 per year charge by Amazon- for being a 'Prime' seller? Never heard of that before. Betty Lou

My item shipped directly from Amazon, not from the seller. Got it in TWO DAYS. |

| Yeah, I use Amazon Fulfillment to ship many of my products to my buyers who did not buy through Amazon. And yes, Amazon Prime is well worth the cost! |

Just wondering how that works? You order from Amazon and give the shipping address as that of your customer- to ship to? Can you buy many of one item and have them hold them, until your ready for them to ship to your customer? You could have twenty (same) items shipped to twenty different people? I used to do that when I oversold on something, but only let Amazon ship direct to the customer on occasion. I used the Prime account to ship to me, an my location let it arrive usually the next afternoon and I'd ship it right out that day for my 2 day shipping window. Sometimes it would cost more, sometimes less, but it took care of the customer and was worth it.
I know many sellers use the "Dropship by Amazon" progran that Amazon used to advertise. |

Can you purchase a number of items from Amazon, and have them stored for you in their fullfullment center? I think it would be a waste of time to have them ship the items to me (free) and then me shipping the items to my customer- as there would go my profit?
I just haven't been able to find out if I can buy a number of items from Amazon and then- instead of shipping them to me- putting them in the fullfillment center for me...??
I'm also thinking that re-selling those items on Ebay means paying Ebay's high listing and selling fees- which eats into the profit that we'd make on the shipping...?? Betty Lou

No.. it came from Amazon with an Amazon invoice in the box- said "A GIFT from (the Ebay seller's name)
I was just checking to see if any money could be made- by purchasing from Amazon (with free shipping) and re-selling on Ebay (as everyone is doing) I can see that the most anyone would profit would be from the free shippng- and then charging shipping from Ebay customers- But once yoiu do the math- after Ebay's high listing and selling fees- there goes the profit. ebay have been having free listing days many times over the last several months. FREE to list!!! Have you not seen these advertised specials? |
