LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a man who hoped to buy an iPhone from a stranger he met through Craigslist was instead robbed at gunpoint.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Michael Martinez says the man arranged via the classifieds web site to pay $500 for the phone.
He met the seller behind a Carl's Jr. restaurant in unincorporated Temple City Saturday afternoon.
Martinez says upon meeting, the seller pulled out a semiautomatic pistol, took the victim's cash and fled on foot.
The Los Angeles Times says the victim provided a description of the suspect to investigators.
No arrests have been made.

"Craigslist robbery suspects held"
Two South Pasadena men suspected of robbing a man who answered a Craigslist ad to buy an iPhone may have committed similar acts in the San Gabriel Valley, authorities said Sunday.
Daniel So, 19, and Garrett Helstrom 20, were being held on $100,000 bail each at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station after they were arrested Friday.
The victim, a Lawndale man, agreed to pay $500 for the phone and arranged to meet So on Feb. 19 at a restaurant parking lot on Las Tunas Drive in Temple City. So allegedly pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the man and demanded that he hand over the money. After surrendering the cash, the victim ran away and was uninjured.
An investigation by the sheriff’s Asian Gang Team led authorities to So’s home, where they saw him enter a vehicle with another man, who was identified as Helstrom. Deputies stopped the vehicle, which was owned by Helstrom, and found a replica of a semi-automatic handgun and suspected stolen property.
