A year ago, I joined as a founding member. I had called and spoken with someone who told me that they send a courtesy reminder before renewing the membership each year so I figured why not give it a try. (Turns out to NOT be the case... they renew you THEN send you a notice.)
I had only listed a few items and when there was no interest in them whatsoever I started looking around and saw how few items were even on OLA and even fewer that were selling. At any rate I figured no big deal, I just won't renew.
I received two different emails saying that they successfully billed my credit card for the coming year's membership. I called and they said they couldn't refund my money for the membership because I had an active auction going. They claim that I auto-renewed an auction for a bra, 27 times. None of my other auctions were on auto-renew but somehow, mysteriously this one supposedly was. They also said that they couldn't refund my money because I was supposed to cancel the membership ten days prior to the renewal date. It seems to me that any legitimate site would send one of the notices prior to the renewal date (as I was told last year on the phone) so that I could decide if I wanted to renew or not. FYI, the guy on the phone that I spoke to this time said that they basically NEVER refund anyone's money anyway.
Well they've got my $96 dollars but I'm going to cost them at least that much in all of the honest but negative advertising that I'll be doing for them. In my opinion, STAY AWAY FROM ONLINEAUCTION.COM ! It's a huge waste of money. They do nothing for you, have limited traffic and you'll be sorry that you ever bothered. |

| Why didn't you just call your bank card and have them reverse the charges? |

| I didn't call the bank and have them reverse the charges because legally, OLA has an ironclad agreement in writing that we agree to upon joining as founding members. The bank isn't going to care that someone told me I'd get an advance email when it was time to renew. That isn't in the agreement at this point in time. And OLA can show that my auction did auto-renew. I can't prove that I didn't set that up myself, but I DIDN'T. So when the bank investigates the charge-back, I'm pretty sure that I would lose. I may call on Monday and give it a try though. |

Really too bad you hadn't seen this place before losing your winter shirt there. The information is here. The personal experiences, the nutty replies of the few that will even crawl out to defend the place and the numbers. Nothing really says more than numbers and the numbers for that site are pathetic, even manipulated. I was there long enough to know one has to not be sincere about making an income or have an very exclusive product. That's what works there. Even then, it's a real crap shoot.
Most of the folks here would really like to see people not lose their money to such an organization. I have to believe they aren't taking in too many fees these days. There used to be so many unhappy sellers from there but these days, the place is virtually unheard of. Sorry we failed to reach you but, spread the word to those you know to avoid that dead-end street. |
