I'm a picture person, so being able to post 10 is great. I also like the clean look, I'm not an HTLM person.
Like that I can choose payment method. I get more payment through Google than I do Paypal. I've sold 15 items this month, and only 1 paid with PayPal. |

| It free to post, up to 10 photos, accepts PP and paper payment methods, a lot of space for writing the titles, and your personal store isn't surrounded by a lot of unknown & strange Ads. |

1) Common sense rules to follow
2) 10 pictures available
3) Long title space
4) Fairness to store owners
And last but definately not least
5) Free, it's up to me! |

1) Free to list
2) It's a store, my store that I have, not just a bunch of listings like Amazon is.
3) 10 pictures available, I only use 3 max, but nice to know I could have more.
4) Long title space
5) Plenty of room for descriptions of items
6) I can charge whatever shipping I need to cover those costs.
7) Ease of use, and easy to list, and use copy button to set up next item.
These are some MAJOR pluses, some that you do not get with other sites. |

I used to sell on ecrater. After about 1 or 2 months, I started to sell one particular electric razor very well. I ran out of that item in about a couple weeks. So I decide to go to Google and type in the name and the model "Norelco XYZ123" (this is not a real model number of course), and bam my item was there on the very first result under shopping result. No wonder I sold that item like crazy.
How did that happen? I have no idea. |

greenbed, Google is strange, but it isn't the first time I saw eCrater items in the 1rst page. I remember to see a lot of items in 1rst page until Google begin messing everything with the attributes.
Now some sellers noted again that they are back in top and not under eBay/Amazon sellers like some weeks ago. |

Looks like I need to try eCrater again. Although, I never really did like the shipping matrix... :-/
On the other hand - at least it will let me choose which way I want to ship my items. Oh yeah - did the guy that runs the site ever fix the shipping calculator? I remember reading that if it couldn't calculate shipping fast enough that it would default to the shipping matrix - a bad thing if you don't have it filled out. I like making sure that my buyers get the best shipping prices possible - so distance needs to be accounted for which IIRC the shipping matrix doesn't do.
ah - to comply with the thread(sorry!)
1. google products
2. free(though I really wish the guy would charge a small fee to help him grow his site)
3. relatively simple while still allowing pictures, minus the shipping matrix. |

ecrater likes:
Free site, so I can pass on the savings to the buyer.
ecrater is still not segregating the sellers into "basic" "premium" "super-duper, king of the hill" status and all that carp. Hope they never do. That's the BIG mistake imo of some of the up-and-coming sites.
Search (as far as I know) is still real and not all carped up with messed batch and other junky search stuff
What I Really like is the ease of listing. None of the nickel and diming the sellers (like ebay and some other sites do). Very simple and fast at ecrater and blujay.
ecrater problem imo - feedback. Artfire has the best feedback system of the up-and-comings - after the first transaction (if the site doesn't hear from the buyer with a neg) the seller gets an automatic 100% Future negs would bring that down.
ecrater and blujay only let buyers who pay with paypal or google leave feedback (that's to keep sellers from padding their own feedback) Most of my buyers are one-timers that I never hear from again and several have paid with checks or money order I got one neutral on ecrater (a buyer who didn't read the listing) and she is the only buyer to leave feedback so far. So my feedback looks worse than it really should with about 30 sales. I have 29 no feedbacks and one neutral - so my feedback stands at 00% zero.
I wonder how many sales have been lost in my store because of this - or other sellers' stores who may have 50 or 100 sales, but they're feedback still says 00% I think this hurts the sellers and the sites, and frankly may be partly why these sites don't have more sales.
It would be so much better if a buyer saw 100% feedback after 1 or 2 sales (if the sellers started with 100%) better than the buyer seeing 10 or 20 (or 200) sales with 00% feedback because the buyers didn't leave feedback, paid with check or mo and not paypal, and have never been back to ecrater.
I hope somebody at these sites reads this - especially ecrater and blujay.
I think that these sites need to do everything they can to promote sales, even though they don't charge.
:) :( :o 8) |

| I like all the likes listed, but one of the biggest is.....do you get sales from eCrater, enough to start listing..I have 16,000 media items, lps, cds, dvds etc and would like to find a site that actually gets sales....and if I have to advertise for them, waste of time, advertise my own website. Anyone have sales results to like? |

Wish I could help, RatherRuss, but I am new to selling on eCrater and have just started listing thousands of books. No sales yet.
If you want a big site to do the work for you, then you should try selling on half.com. I sell there also |
