Amazon (Amazon.com Inc.) ahead of the competitors by introducing a cloud music services to the consumers, the company is trying to make their digital stores be more competitive than Apple (Apple Inc .) iTunes.
Apple has been rumored to be developing a cloud computing version of iTunes, which can allow consumers to use the Apple's servers to store their music, movies and other content, rather than keep them in a limited number of its own equipment. At the same time,Google Inc. (Google Inc.) is also developing cloud music services.
The bulk China eletronics wholesale company and discount electronics store ePathChina CEO Yide Huang said Amazon's Cloud Player can also contend with stream music site Pand.It is a combination of streaming media options, and supports the people to buy music from the existing services in the Amazon site.
He said, "the streaming music has been one killer application on smart phones and Tablet PC." Yide Huang, the CEO of cheap electronics wholesale company and dropship supplier Epathchina Ltd, estimated that the Amazon in the United States music market has about 10% to 15% market share. "It is significantly behind iTunes which occupied over 70% of market share," according to epathchina’s Yide Huang.
Amazon adequately equipped himself to provide this service because it is their further expansion of commercial cloud services. With the Android mobile phone continuing to gain market share, this can bring more digital music sales to Amazon. This is a logical step, but it still difficult to predict whether it will help Amazon compete with iTunes to win market share. |
