I took a look, things have changed. But on a hunch I clicked the top link marked Marketplace. Was able to bring up my ID, and all my account info. Looks like I still have a hefty credit to list for free too.
Not sure what is going on there, but they have not vaporized any of us that tried all those years ago.

OK i spoke way too soon on this. I went over and looked and the term auction has been renamed to "marketplace" and is on the frontpage TAB at the top where it should be. my apologies.

I see something very good over at Overstock YES! :-) (i actually said it)

They have actually started the 30 day FIXED listings over there for 15c per listing. This is in all effect a store listing at a not so bad price. I threw a few items up. we will see - not expecting a lot so zero sales are ok. one good thing is it does not have to be relisted every 7-10 days.

I see this as a possible emergence of O into something very good... if they dont screw it up. Their track record shows us to be very aware of any warning flags. I talked to the guy in charge of auctions on the phone a year ago and he said that this was the direction they were headed in. I hope it is a done deal as I like fixed price listings as it eliminates the scam artists especially in the jewelry dept. It gets rid of shill bidding and fake price starts and will attract real honest sellers.

Hiya Kathy, loooong time! :D

Jerry, sounds as if the O is encouraging online stores more than auctions now a days. If you can park it there for 30 days for a mere .15, not bad IMHO.
Thanks for the updates and keep us posted as to how well your sales are JB. Afterall, its summer and online sales tend to fall this time of year with people traveling, visiting, vacations, etc.......

The best part about the new format is that they also work with the subscription plans. My wife loves it with her account.

Hi Cat! Hope your prowling is going well.

I have stuff "parked" in 3 spots on the internet these days, maybe I'll look for a few things to park Over there for 30 days, can't hurt to try. Always nice when the Paypal acct picks up a little cash!

I dont mind paying a "little" to take a chance on a sale. 15c is fair for a site that has a well known name but a bad rep with buyers in the auction area.

The problem with Overstock is the lack of control over the site. It appears it is and has been OK to rip the customers off and the management does nothing to fix the site. even now. I have been making jewelry all my life and I KNOW a rip off when I see it.

example a seller is selling about 30-40 listings of ring all marked W. Gold. the items are cheap chinese plated junk. Who knows what the base metal the 50c plate on it is? solid toxic waste? seriously this is a concern as a lot of lead, cadium and similar metals are used in cheap metal jewelry. at no place in his listings is it written that these items are not really gold but he is selling for $20- $30 and marked the weights in grams (joke as what is a gram of toxic waste copper, lead mix worth?)

In the US the FTC requires you to stamp / items sold as gold with Content as in 14k or 10k. anything under 10k is not to be sold as gold in the US. last i heard Overstock in in the US

Gold is $1500 an ounce this is $28 per gram in 14k gold or about $18 in 10k per gram. tell me how you can sell a 5 gram ring for $20-$30 and offer free shipping? I told them about this .. no reply and he is still selling the crap on Overstock. The point being imo they dont care if customers are ripped off or they would remove the ripoff artist.

As long as this attitude prevails at Overstock they will do nothing but lose customers in both areas of their site.
