Reputable alternative to Paypal Money Bookers
Has a new splash page in its auction resources page concerning special offer from Auction Checkout ,concerning an offer for low proccessing fee only for Money Bookers account holders and no transaction fee.
Then read the fine print and it does not offer credit card proccessing (which I thought was the reason for having an Auction checkout and its merchant services in first place).
So its a bit fuzzy if you only could take Moneybookers payments from Moneybookers account holders. Which sorts of negates the cost of "Auction Payments" service and the hassle that involves.
This will be nice feature for Euro sellers who often have more Moneybookers users and be able to list on eBay.
But visiting Auction Checkout they do no mention the offer or have the Euro rate with the stated fee's claimed by Moneybookers
bit of a puzzle , if anyone signs up ,be sure to post your results ! |

I buy yarn from Turkey and it used to be that they couldn't use PayPal (they can now), so Money Bookers was one of the options and I signed up. However, I found it so confusing. It seems I would have had to transfer money from my bank -- 3 days, like PayPal -- so I said forget it. I wanted this stuff on it's way. Anyway, I went through Western Union online and it was easy and the merchant in Turkey even paid the fee for me. Everything worked out fine after that and I do a regular business with them. I do business with two major yarn manufacturers in Turkey on eBay and they're terrific. I hope I can convince them to start selling elsewhere
So, anyway, that's my take on Money Bookers. Aside from signing up I haven't done anything with them. Too much hassle. Hope Google comes through. |

Well with Money Bookers itself I have had no problem to use it with purchases.
It does take a bit of reading and rules and fee's do vary depending on what country you are based from.
Europeans certainly get the most out of it
But it has an ok FAQ page and with enough digging it works out pretty well. I just wish I had more customers that use it ,I'm certainly more happy with it thenPayPal |

If anyone is looking for a Paypal-like alternative. I simply believe the moneybookers.com is the one for you.
For instance, I do not have a Paypal account because Paypal does not accredit my country, the Philippines (even though there is www.ebay.ph) and therefore, I have to rely on an alternative like moneybookers.com
If I was able to set-up my account (uploaded funds, withdrew funds, etc), then I am sure that you guys from more developed countries would have an easier time.
The only hurdle was the "verification" process (maybe since I am from the Philippines) but after this process...all was easily smooth sailing.
I like the site and it is very user-friendly. I suggest that more guys look at it as another option.
Some say that it has lower fees than Paypal. I cannot confirm this since I do not have a paypal account. To know for sure, why don't you guys check it out! It works for me and I am sure it will work for you guys too.
Get outside that paypal comfort zone.
Cheers! |

I've not actually 'researched' or looked into this one, but I know that it's offered for sellers as an option on HiBidder.COM - both for verification as well as for payment methods...
I do wish they would engage in CC transactions tho - that's a huge chunk of my business!!!  |

It would be perfect...
Buyer to auctioncheckout to moneybookers to seller's bank account. I would use this in an instant. |

Moneybookers
Send Money: 1% (up to EUR 0.50)
Receive Money: FREE
Withdrawl often 1.80 Euro to 5.00 Euro depends on the country
If register as a merchant account which don't have to,e-mail payment is the same the sender is charged, while second option a standard payment is 2% charge to merchant and third merchant option is a credit card gateway payment charge of 8%
You can signup to use Moneybookers with auctioncheckout service ,but if you signup for only Moneybookers/Auctioncheckout you will not get the credit card proccessing. I'm not sure if can have auction checkout merchant account and intergrate Moneybookers but it seems logical that you could be sure to ask them.
--------------------------
Paypal
Paypal is a little more crafty with fee's..........you are going to pay anywhere from 1.9% to 3.5% + a flat fee of either (o.35 Euro,30 cents US,55 cents Cad) + 2.5% currency exchange fee. Deposit fee is free in some cases and in some countries ,but you will pay for ATM and small withdrawls.
-------------------------
E-Gold
E-Gold can be more complicated as its unconventional
There is an annual 1% fee to your balance
To accept payments there is fee that ranges from 5% for micro payment ,while wide range of payments are only 1% to 1.25%
The problem would be in converting E-Gold to real world cash , you have to shop around for reputable exchange , I would advise only dealing with the ones mentioned on the E-Gold site.(not without risk too)
Its typical the reputable services will charge 2% conversion fee + cost of wire transfer or cost of a courier document shipping+bank draft. Some charge flat rates which can be a savings ,some handle ATM which can be expensive for small dealings ,others deposit to banks.
Its rather complicated and variable from place to place so shop around but basically if you are dealing in larger amounts of funds you can certainly beat Paypal fee's if you do your homework.
---------------------------
Hope that helps 8) |
