For the last year, the news has been filled with reports every other week or so about another hacker group breaking into a commercial or government site and compromising sensitive data or personal information. This has caused a lot of concern over security in an world that’s going more and more web-based than ever before. The rates of identity theft and online safety have become buzz words in our culture and the rate of the occurrences don’t seem to be slowing down.
Perhaps the most popular hacking group of them all, Anonymous, has now released a statement that their next target is Facebook. The social networking giant has at least five hundred thousand active accounts and holds personal information of each of these people. The site is one of the most widely used and checked in the world. People stay connected through their computer or 4G Slide Android Phone and other mobile devices all day long. Even though its popularity and influence isn’t questioned, its value to personal security has been. Privacy and security has long been an issue with the company, but this is a concern of another kind. Many are wondering what would happen if their plans to “kill Facebook” were to succeed.
