Old news or should I say building news, Moneybookers a dependable alternative to Paypal for those dealing in Europe and other International markets is undergoing a large rebranding push to transform the company.
Moneybookers is the European and International alternative to Paypal.
Moneybookers is also part of eBay payments system and has 14 million to 19 million account holders depending what site or corporate announcement you check.
Using Moneybookerss is more practical in the aprox 30 countries that have supported local payment methods. That way can more conveniently transfer funds via uploading and downloading rather then by bank transfer or cheque.

Now Moneybookers is facing a BIG change with its rebranding to Skrill. You could say this is Moneybookers big push to become a household name and have that casual "Paypal vibe" for personal use. If you did not know Moneybookers came from the background of online gambling and lads and bookies uploading and downloading cash. All legal in parts of Europe and a very successful way for Moneybookers to start but it was total other way of thinking then the mass appeal and branding of Paypal. Paypal and eBay were a perfect fit while Moneybookers came from the lucrative but small clique of online gambling and had much harder go at the wide consumer market. Moneybookers moved into merchants, online payments and even eBay but it has been smaller.
What is "Skrill" its sort of a chav lingo for cash and the marketing geniuses hope to capture the youth culture and make it as accessible as "Moneybookers" and try to step away from the image of lads moving money to bet on the next Football match.
No word on how Skrill will change how Moneybookers will run, there are promises to make it "better" which makes everyone nervous of course. No news if it will penetrate the USA market.
