Have you been experiencing more or less views and sales? The traffic numbers at Alexa are consistantly good, and traffic has down a 180 from steadily going to down, to steadily jumping higher!
What's Bidville doing to get these numbers? If you can answer that, what about to sustain and improve upon these numbers? What's going on over there? Looks good from here! |

ROUND: I listed a handful of items there, and the only hits I got were mine, and all ended nada - no hits, no nothing - but I don't know what else to say, other than the moment I listed them in eBay with BIN's - people cleaned them out.
I guess the traffic at Bidville isn't as good as it used to be ... and/or the
media exposure actually damaged them? Or if Sellers are buying off from each other??
I just really dunno ... dunno .. dunnooooooo..

Southie - NOT. When you click on your own listings at BV, it doesn't count as a hit. |

I'm a rather new seller on Bidville. I just got my stuff up there about 3 weeks ago +-. I just checked to see if things are actually getting hits -- of 129 items listed, 1 has 1 hit, 0 watchers. That's it. NO sales yet.
While my sales everywhere so far this Feb have been slow, I have been getting small orders coming in in a slow trickle from my web site.
That helps a bit as I just spent a small fortune on new stock, but a few bigger orders would help.

I had opened up a BidVille store last month for the 'free 'til Jan 31st' deal. I had even upgraded it to a featured store, figuring if the increased exposure helped sales, I would then keep it and pay. A few days before the end of the promotion, I checked my stats. I had 0 views on all of my listings. I then transferred my items to the auction and closed my store. As of now, I have had about 6 views total on my items listed on the auctions. It may be what I sell, but with this limited exposure, I simply cannot afford to waste my time.

I only have a few listings up right now and my store is on 'vacation' since we are in the process of moving, but even without iSurf (which I've stopped using) I am still getting views and I have a bid right now - not from another seller, either. Frankly, I get as many view at Bidville as I got on many of my items on eBay back when I was doing all my listings there - and I'm saving a ton of money.
But then, again, I'm just a small time seller. My sales and views with other sites - Bidchaser, TAM, Yahoo and Overstock were a big fat '0' so after a few months I left.
I'm gonna stick with BV, but always open for an additional cheap to list site that may have better traffic for my items (I'll be concentrating more on my jewelry). |

work2hard4nothing,
I know what you mean. I'm on 3 of the 4 you listed too (never tried the O).
I'm in a position tho where I can leave the listings up tho as I basically just sell the same things over and over. It's got to be hard for "one of a kind" sellers.
I know Erin has done well at Yahoo, but it's been a bomb for me. Personally the sites that have done the best for me, in this order, are Blujay, Bid-alot and eBid.
I had wanted to list a bit at E, just to keep my mane out there, but there are between 800+ and 900+ listings just as auctions in "peppers" and "tomatoes" every time I look. My 5-10 listings are just totally lost there now. Last time I didn't even cover my listing fees.
If a person looks for those 2 search terms at Froogle tho, I dominate the listings. So as long as the place gets my listings up on Froogle or Google base, hopefully my stuff will get found.

I've got 25+/- items at BV, and they've been there about 3 months. I've only gotten 4 hits in the whole time....I'm going to leave them to continue to see what traffic is there, but not sure that I want to spend too much time as of now!

Sorry people, I forgot about this thread until I went back to Alexa today to scan through the usual sites I like to track (Ever since I discovered this tool I've been addicted lol, and I barely know what the numbers mean).
Well, I rushed back here as soon as I could, because today's rank is insanely high:
4,036 8,305 11,711
That's nuts! Bidville was at 13 000+ not long ago, and they were on the decline. As of late, they've turned things around. They kept scoring in the 8 000 for weekly and daily averages, and I wasn't sure if they could grow past that point.
Well, I'm glad I was wrong. I don't know who their traffic is or what it's from, but it went up a lot today according to Alexa. I'll keep tracking this site, I'm sure it's got places to go! |

I have been at Bidville since 2001 and have handed out 5,650 feedbacks. Maybe I've been lucky, but I have never had a real dry spell there. Since the stores opened, it only increased my sales.
Some of the problem with page views is that if you use gallery, many people do not actually enter the auction. I does not mean items are not being seen.
They posted something about some marketing to begin next month.
Many members self promote through various groups all over the internet and I believe a lot of traffic comes from that. |

TCC:
Thanks 4 sharing! I know many have had success at BV - I'm hopeful that in time, I'll be able to put up more which in turn will help me get more exposure and looks. I do like many things about the site, and agree with everyone that there's a ton of potential.
Relative to my items, and my success - this is a perfect example where what you sell and where you are may directly affect what success you have!
I don't know what items move better than others at BV - has your success been specific to a certain "line" of items or a variety? I'm curious! :D :D |

As was pointed out in another recent thread, Alexia rank can be minipulated a bit and not all of us use the Alexia toolbar (I don't use any toolbar).
There was another thread recently where several owners were braging how well they ranked for various terms or words like "free auction" , "alternate auction site" and other such terms.
Well frankly, I don't give a #$%^ how you rank for stuff like that. Those terms will MAYBE bring in a few more SELLERS to the site. But most sellers know about plenty of sites.
Tell me how you rank for terms that will get BUYERS to find my items. ALL the sites need BUYERS. See what is listed at your site and get your site ranked for terms that will draw buyers for those items.
If you start getting sales at your site, us sellers will get the word out and plenty of sellers will flock to you.
Just some of my thoughts on Alexia and Google ranks,

| 2Boys, I sell sportscards and related items exclusively. There are a couple other sportcard sellers there that have recieved over 20,000 feedback already. So if thats your line, there is a buyer population for that. |

Thanks so much for sharing - great #s you all have!! Very, very impressive. I've got a variety of things, but am not truly into cards (and my boys won't let go of what they got right now!!).
