Greetings,

We've just launched a new alternative to eBay site called Unisquare (http://www.unisquare.com/). I was hoping to get the word out and get some feedback.

This site is an online marketplace for auctions, buying and selling. Basically, we've gone through every category in eBay and created a similar structure, plus more, so there are 22,288 categories in the site to list items in. Registration is free, there are no listing fees and only a 2% final value fee if an item sells. PayPal and Google Checkout are accepted here as well.

In addition, members can build free web stores or "Squares", build custom category names, store name, url, upload logo and change color scheme a little bit. Stores are free and unlimited items and categories can be listed for free as well.

Please check out the site and let us know what you think. If you like the site, we would really appreciate any links back to our site to increase exposure. And of course, you are more than welcome to buy and sell at UniSquare anytime!

Kind regards
UniSquare

Another eBay alternative? Best of luck to you in this rather crowded market. It is an attractive site. I suggest you add a Help section with answers to question that a prospective seller or buyer might have.
I have one: do you send items listed to Google search, Bing, Yahoo?

Thanks for checking out the site and for the suggestion. We designed the site so items could get index by Google, Bing and Yahoo easily as well as the XML sitemap.

Although, if you are referring to Google Product Search, we don't have that set up. In fact, this was something I discovered yesterday viewing this forum and eCrater. This is something I will be researching today. I am not sure if Bing or Yahoo has a similar product search though.

Kind regards

Greetings,

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about some of our stats lately.

We hit one of our major goals the other day. UniSquare now has over 1,000 items for sale and auction. It is up to 1,200+ today. We also have over 250 members who have signed up.

There has been 18 items sold worth nearly $800. We've been getting a lot of good feedback lately about how easy it is has been to use the site and how simple the listing process is.

It may not seem like much to some, but I'm extremely happy about it. Also, I plan on selling my own things at UniSquare since the search engine rankings for individual items are excellent, oftentimes ranking above ebay listings of the same item. So you can be confident that UniSquare will stay around long-term.

So please visit UniSquare.com whenever possible! As always, we would greatly appreciate anyone spreading the word and linking to us if you have a website, blog or use other forums. Those links will help give us some big momentum because it greatly improves search engine rankings, internet presence, and brings in more visitors. In the mean time, I will continue to work hard to bring in more members, sellers and buyers.

Kind regards
UniSquare

I got to say that you have done a fairly good job in your business plan. You seem to get it. No listing fees and a small fair FVF. That is what it will take to get experienced sellers. I also see that you have secured the registration and sign in pages. Congrats on doing this. You are one of the few new venues that come here and adv their site that actually realized this was important.

Just a few things about my first impression. The first thing I saw when I got there was the Paypal and google checkout graphics, and that bothered my. It was almost like I have to pay to shop here? Your top banner just seems to empty, so consider doing something more with that area.

As a seller I do not like to see you advertsing an alternative to ebay right on the home page, in fact I do not think talking about fees at all on the home page is a good idea. This info should be in a sell here section not the front page. It is OK to talk a bit on the front page, but personally you are losing my attention with the very tiny type and nothing visual to hold my attention or interest. I looked at your listing page and it is identical to eBay's and this is both good and bad. The good part is a buyer will know this layout very well. The bad is that you look like ebay to an experienced seller, so this is also you might want to think about as well.

Do you have a bulk importer? This would be very important for gathering and keeping sellers. Starting at a new venue takes a lot of work and experienced sellers absolutely need this tool.

I think you are off to a very good start, and can see you succeding.

I just viewed your site and I can tell you I like the layout alot better then other sites like Ebid and Bonanza...We need a serious contender to Ebay and almost all other online auction sites don't fit the bill. I hope yours makes it.

Greetings,

I just wanted to give a heads up that we have been building some momentum getting a number of new sellers and new items to the site. Last week we broke a major milestone of getting 1,000 items listed on UniSquare. This week we broke another goal, that number is above 2,300 items listed on the site.

The best part is we have been getting a lot of excellent feedback from members writing in about how easy and fast it is to set up a store, build custom categories and add items. We've also been getting a few sales and bids on items, yet we are still a very new site.

Kind regards
UniSquare

I'm having no sales on Ebid. :(
I think that I'll give Unisquare a shot.
Nice appearance and category selection is excellent.
Has anyone here tried it out?
Cannot lose with no listing fees. :D

No listing fees and a final value fee.

I think you should make your fvfee larger so that you can build up some money to advertise.

Greetings,

I just wanted to announce some updates and new features at UniSquare:
http://www.unisquare.com/updates.php

We added a new visitor hit counting feature which records a basic count of how many people have viewed your items for sale. In addition, the list of items for sale on your sellers page will show the visitor hits as well so you can scroll down the list and quickly view how many hits each item has gotten. This feature can be enabled in your account preference page can can be disabled at any time. Note that counting is done in the background whether this feature is enabled or disabled, so you can view an accurate count at any time. This feature just controls the display. Also, this feature factors in IP addresses so a unique visitor is only counted once per 24 hours.

Also, we built a feature for Google Analytics integration. You can now integrate Google Analytics into all of your item pages, member page, store page and store category pages. The only requirement is that you obtain a tracking ID from Google Analytics and enter it into the field in your UniSquare account preferences page. This should be useful for anyone who is familiar with or prefers Google Analytic tracking.

Lastly, we built an archive page which shows what kind of sales and auctions have been completed at UniSquare: http://www.unisquare.com/reference-guides/recent-sales/

Other Stats:
There are now over 4,000 items for sale on the site (including adult items) and nearly 400 registered members. There have been 94 sales totaling nearly $1,400.

Don't forget to check out our site, bookmark our site and don't forget to link to our site as this will really help boost UniSquare overall in the search engines along with everyone's item pages! We greatly appreciate your help and support.

Kind regards
UniSquare

As a recent newbie to unisquare, the new updates are welcome additions. So far I'm liking the site. Now for some sales. :-)
A suggeston: the recent sales is too difficult to find. Make in more prominent .
