|
|
eBay used to allow sellers to include email addresses and phone numbers in listings - until a week ago. eBay said Friday it has begun enforcing its new policy that prohibits email address in listings. I've already received questions from sellers who say they're running into difficulties as a result of the enforcement.
One seller said she includes her PayPal address in her listing so buyers know where to send their PayPal payments. "Listings won't be accepted without the Paypal email address! So now my listings are being rejected if I DO enter the Paypal email address AND if I DON'T put the Paypal email address! What am I missing?" she asked.

Bizarre blog entry by Ina.
First, this was announced a long time ago, so it shouldn't surprise anyone. I removed my few remaining emails from my listings months ago.
Second, she quotes a seller that clearly doesn't have a clue because you do not need to put your paypal email address in the body of your listings - you put it in the payment details and has nothing whatsoever to do with the email prohibition.
So either Ina herself doesn't have a clue, or she is trying to "stir the pot".
It's also interesting to note one of the commentators that says she deleted one of their earlier comments. This is something I have observed myself when I have made some completely non-offensive comments that were not so obviously anti-ebay. Some commentators seem to be given free reign to post non-stop-hate-ebay rhetoric that often has nothing to do with the actual topic, while others with relevant and perhaps even helpful advice are censored. |

Interesting Post Stockmiser-
censorship seems to be alive and well at all levels. Ina clearly feels the site is hers and she can do anything she wants on her site. I think this attitude when exposed really reduces the value of a site to the public especially if the site's purpose is to watchdog others. I think the sites often have owners with ego problems and often forget why they exist outside themselves.. when this happens perhaps its time to find new sites that have not reached that point of natural evolution? |
