Amazon.com Inc is the most trusted merchant among 27 major retailing companies in a study released today by Temkin Group, a consulting firm that specializes in customer experience.
Amazon ranked second overall in the study of 143 companies across 12 industries, trailing only credit card issuer USAA. Amazon had ranked No. 1 in a similar survey that Temkin Group released in March.
Retailers as a group fared well in the new study, finishing with the highest score among the 12 industries. And four of the eight companies rated very strong in consumer trust were retailers. After Amazon, they were Costco, Sam’s Club and Kohl’s. Amazon is No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, Costco No. 16, and Kohl’s No. 31. Sam’s Club is part of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. whose Walmart.com is No. 6.
