|

Ecommerce giant eBay is calling on its network of sellers to petition members of Congress to oppose any measures to reform the U.S. Postal Service that would entail an increase in shipping rates for small sellers.
The company is advocating financial relief for the troubled Postal Service, which has been hammered by declining mail volumes, a weakened economy and federally mandated employee-benefit obligations, but that effort to right its balance sheet should not come with rate increases that would hit low-volume sellers, eBay is arguing.
"eBay supports financial relief for the USPS and forward-thinking policies to restructure the postal service and keep shipping rates affordable," the company said in a message to sellers. "It is imperative that eBay small businesses have access to low-cost, reliable shipping alternatives."

LOL, eBay added third party insurance to their site. As everyone knows shipping insurance is a cash cow for the post office since few packages are damaged or lost. eBay is a total hypocrite - they are robbing USPS right there of big time revenue.
I am curious about when eBay processes shipping fees when you print a USPS label from PayPal or eBay. If you g on the USPS web site you can obtain a discount for paying online. Is eBay pocketing any money from USPS on these labels, either receiving a discount, the difference between counter and online rates, or fees for processing the payments for these labels?
How about Donny donating his salary to USPS? He's not worth a penny of it anyway. |

Mike... The reform is not about an increase in rates.
If the government controlled USPS does not get restructured with either more postage revenue or figuring out how to cut costs they will not exist anymore.
Personally I don't think a postage rate increase will save em' they need to cut costs. Run a tighter budget and crack down on their employee's. Stop giving out discounts to bulk mailers. Who else will the bulk mailers use?
It's about keeping you Post Office open and not having to layoff thousands of people. Not eBay fee's. |

And lets not forget, eBay also robbed USPS of Money Order sales and postage for said money orders by requiring every seller to use PayPal... |
