|
|
The lengths eBay will go to prevent sellers from using their credit cards to pay for shipping and instead of using their paypal balance.
Well I was printing some labels off paypal I got one done and then when it came to the second label - first ebay server's said the postal site was unavailable, then ebay shipping was unavailable. Then surprise, surprise, when I clicked the print label button on the payment details page it then announces paypal's "new" shipping label service is now handled by ebay shipping and a new label shipping window appears from eBay.
I want to use my credit card to pay for shipping, but eBay would never actually let you set your credit card as the default payment. No first you needed to zero out your paypal account, then select the credit card from the other funding source link within the payment details page. eBay would also leave you within an endless loop so you could never use your credit card.
Now with the new label service form ebay you can either:
1. Check a small box to use your paypal balance with your bank account as a back up. Never get to use credit card here, just saves you from signing in - ot at least that what it claims to do because it did not work!
2. Not check the box and you'll have to log into paypal for every god damn label - but make sure you zeroed out your balance first.
What this really all boils down to is that eBay does not want you to use your credit card for label printing. Them credit card points add up and I want them.
eBay you can shove that 5,000 free listing day tomorrow in the body orifice of your choice. I want you out of my state! How the hell is this suppose to save me any time? do you just sit in your labs and think about being evil? |

Just when you think you've suffered every shock and disappointment that Ebay can hand out- they come up with another...
Today, I went into Paypal to print out my shipping label, as I've done for years. An entirely NEW form now pops up- taking me to EBAY LABELS!! Yep, you heard me right- No more Paypal labels for Ebay purchases. I do not LIKE Ebay shipping labels- the format looks like it was designed by a ten year old! NOTHING like the excellent labels from Paypal. Ebay shows the shipping cost as THE ESTIMATED shipping cost- by weight- that you had on the listing. This sometimes changes, once the item is packaged. NO place to put in the actual weight. And THEN- once you manage to struggle through this- you are taken to PAYPAL to PAY for the label, who sends the payment to EBAY-
The Paypal payment form does not even SHOW what yolu are paying for- NOTHING! Just the amount you're paying to Ebay- No item number- nothing. What a mess! For all it shows, it could be a donation!
Of course I cancelled and clicked out of the whole process and went back to the old way of doing things- I hand-addressed my package.
I will be switching to online USPS shipping labels. .
I see Ebay as a spoiled, bratty child that grabs for and takes everything. Very unhappy if they can'[t HAVE IT ALL and TO HELL with everyone else. Can't you just hear it.."THAT'S MINE! YOU CAN'T HAVE IT! WAHHHHHHH!!" Makes you want to smack the CRAP out of em!
Hitler-Bay does not want it's members to have a CHOICE in any matters. They couldn't care less if their sellers (The 'Noise') are happy.
"You WILL take Paypal payment only"....".You WILL offer free shipping"...".We WILL take part of your shipping fees"...."You WON'T leave honest feedback for bad buyers".... "We WILL hold your money in Paypal if WE say you are below standard."..."- We WILL refund buyers from your account if they complain- right or wrong"...".We WILL place your items in ANY search visibility we deem necessary., and you will pay for it!"... WHERE does it end? Betty Lou  |

The one label I did print with this method allowed you to change the weight seewhatimsellingnow. Its in a popupmenu. This popupmenu will initially have weight range matching what you entered for your auction listing; i.e., "4 to 5 pounds". If you click on the popupmenu you can then select other weights. This; however. is completely STUPID! Has anyone at eBay ever heard of ERGONOMICS? Actually sat down and run some auctions like a smaller would?
So what this means eBay:
1. I'll have to jump through multiple damn screens just to print one label. Please eBay explain how that's faster?
2. Buy the Endicia plugin for GarageSale, the current Macintosh auction uploader I am using. Endica is really not an option though since it costs $16.00 a month and you can't even print USPS insurance from it, among other features. but you can buy insurance through Endicia of course. I wonder if eBay is getting a kickback?
Gee, eBay wouldn't purposely screw up its free shipping labels to NUDGE people to software companies they are in bed with would they? Surely not honest eBay.
In years past I spent money on a little Mac application called A.I.D., but eBay put a stop to that because they made all developers pay money for using their API so goodbye A.I.D. and a bunch of other software companies.
Then I spent several hundred dollars buying VirtualPc for my Mac so I could run that piece of crap TurboLister.
3. Use the USPS web site. Not really an option because you can't print 1st class and parcel post which is what I use since priority mail is a roll of the dice with the rates based upon the cubic size of a package for packages sent to zone 5 and up. I've 1, maybe 2 packages priority. I also use media mail quite heavily.
This is also not an option because there is no way in hell I am going to copy and paste addresses on the USPS web site, and input weights, and select services I already completed in my software package.
4. Run that piece of crap Postal Explorer on VirtualPC on my Mac to print labels. I'd rather watch paint dry as its just as fast and I still have to paste customer addresses in, weights, and select the services.
Just another sign eBay does not want small time sellers on their site. In the time I was gone from eBay I spent $0.00 on eBay so remember that eBay. Yet, in that same time I purchased a lot from Amazon and OTHER sites. No problem spending $1,100 on a high end NEC graphics monitor from Amazon, but I didn't buy anything from you. Get the picture eBay? |

I no longer sell on eBay, only on other sites, and the eBay shipping label came up today when I tried to print PayPal labels. However, the labels looks exactly like the old PayPal labels.
I was sickened by this change, not for the credit reason so much, but because when I left eBay, I really wanted nothing more to do with them. And I certainly don't want it to appear as if I have any connection with eBay.
And now we have to log in with each label.
Did anyone notice that we can no longer send an automatic email message to our buyer as with the old PP label? Or am I missing something. |

Yep...I just found out that we cannot print labels from the USPS site for Media and Parcel post- DANG! Runnin' into brick walls at every turn. Nearly ALL of my shipping is Media an Parcel post.
Guess this means I am back to hand-addressing my packages and paying full-price for confirmation. Also means standing in line at the post office instead of dropping off my pre-labeled packages...
Gotta wonder WHY Ebay did this? We should at LEAST have a CHOICE of Paypal or Ebay labels.
Are you saying that we STILL have to use EBAY labels when we sell an item NOT through Ebay? No more Paypal labels at ALL??? Gotta wonder WHY? How does this profit Ebay? There's gotta be a dollar in it SOMEWHERE for Ebay, or they wouldn't be doing this- Bet anything their getting ready to TOTALLY take over Paypal... E-Paypal ?
Also betting it won't be long before we're CHARGED for printing those labels- Ebay is NOT going to offer ANY service for nothing!! Trust me!! Betty Lou |

I wonder...just another effort to boost revenue:
1. A certain number of people will leave ebay over this. Mostly small sellers who do not have a automated system and employees to take care of this so they ar enot out that much $.
2. Others will continue and just bear it so ebay is not out much money.
3. Others will increase the price of their items and / or handling fees to compensate for the amount of time they now loose with each transaction due to the new shipping system, thus ebay will will gain more revenue.
4. Some parties will be pushed to 3rd party shipping providers so eBay does not loose here either. No doubt eBay has financial ties with some of these firms, either directly or through advertising fees they get from these firms.
And LOL, that endicia add-on for my GarageSale software is far worse that I thought. On top of monthly fees it appears you have to use their scale, their printer, and buy their labels.
LOL, one of their printers is a thermal printer. This costs a huge amount money to run. We have an industrial Zebra model at work - printer was over $10K. When it runs out of labels its a nightmare to thread the roll through multiple rollers and other guides.

Yes...this is just another small step, along that 'plank' that the small seller has been walking. I think the end is now in sight. Looking back, over each small step- designed to rid Ebay of it's 'noise' ie: the small seller, the Mom & Pop sellers- We can now clearly see how carefully each step was planned- The rising fees that had everyone so upset, was only the beginning...of the end. When Donahoe came on the scene we experienced....
Rising listing and selling fees
Numerous policy changes
Feedback changes- Seller can no longer leave negative feedback.
Introduction of anonymously given DSR ratings
Introduction of Best Match
Top Rated Seller status for matching criteria
Search visibility based on selective criteria
Ebay buys interest in Paypal
Paypal fees increase
'Paypal payments ONLY' introduced- no more checks and money orders
Option of buyers paying for insurance. taken away
Higher visibility incentive given for offering 'Free Shipping'
Ebay takes part of the shipping fee
Seller pin-pointed to number of days for shipping items
Members can no longer email Ebay
Ebay begins putting a HOLD on members Paypal funds
Ebay offers BUYER PROTECTION which allows them to access the seller's funds in Paypal and refund scamming buyers.
Haven't we had enough? Betty Lou |

i have used stamps.com since forever. i can print anything i want, any time i want, anyway i want.
my son and i print 400+ labels/week and have nothing but good to say about the service.
as a side note:
as i mentioned in earlier posts, i have sold a few personal items on ebay since the 21 day email.
i do not accept pp through ebay, but do invoice the buyer directly from pp or take their cards over the phone.
got a call from ebay today. caller said ebay was concerned because i had 11 items not marked as "payment recieved" or marked "as shipped" and no tracking numbers entered either.
i told the caller that was none of ebays business, that i and the buyers were taking care of OUR busness just fine.
the caller said that was unacceptable with ebay.
i told the caller that ebay's behavior was unacceptable to me.
i also told the caller that ebays ONLY job was to bring buyers and sellers together. PERIOD.
caller from ebay ended the call.
BTW, all 11 buyers had left positive feedback for me.

LOL!!!!!!!!
And I thought going through PayPal was bad. Just tried going through eBay with their bulk shipping label. After going multiple screens I get to the final screen with text saying they are retrieving your information. This pages loads, then loads again, and again, and again, in a endless loop. And nope, the shipping labels haven't been charged to PayPal account. Previously eBay's label system would allow you to select a credit card as payment, but not with the new system. Lets see, I suppose to allow bidders to pay with credit card, but I can't pay for shipping. |

Unfortunately the stamp.com product which I checked out before is:
1. Seriously overpriced. That's 3 times what I pay per month to host a .com site for image storage for another site and what I pay for high speed cable.
2. Its Windows - I don't need another hole in my head.
3. That scale is pretty useless - my largest scale goes up to 400 pounds.
I don't think the manually invoicing customers is going to work for me. If I had to do that I think I might as well move to another payment service as keep the ebay fees.
Have you tried http://www.serve.com/ for processing that quantity of payments yet?
LOL, did you save a log of the conversation? I am surprised how many times eBay point blank lies in such conversation which I can easily take screen shots and post.
Yeah, I've had customers contact and tell me the item was not marked as paid because eBay's system screws up. Of course the same customers don't read the descriptions and look at the large size pictures either so I am not sure why it makes a difference to them. |

i pay $17.99/mo for stamps. i'm happy :)
i have no problems with win 7
i use my own scale
i dont sell my products on ebay anymore, just a few personal items so invoicing isnt a problem
i use intuit for card processing and am totally happy with the service/fees
i dont log anything to do with ebay anymore, as far as i'm concerned ebay is simply a dying dinosaur whose only value is to be "gamed".
i wish you well
we're all marketing different items different ways
more power to you!
