Amazon.com Inc said today it plans to hire thousands of U.S. military veterans for temporary and permanent fulfillment jobs.
“Thousands of soldiers are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan this year, and we’re proud to offer opportunities for them to join the hundreds of veterans already working in the Amazon fulfillment network,” says Dave Clark, vice president of Amazon’s North American Operations.
The jobs include positions in operations management, along with picking, packing and shipping and receiving. Amazon, No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, says it operates a recruitment program to attract veterans, along with mentoring for hires.
