Hi Everyone, I am going to open an Amazon store. The traffic on Ebay has all but dried up completely. I have not seen it this bad ever and I have been online and using Ebay since 1998. I heard Amazon is far more trusted and gets far more traffic. Any comments are welcome. Thanks!

You should have diversified ages ago. We've been keeping sales graphs for all our sites for may years. It clearly shows ebay's sales declining steadily while the other sites are steadily increasing.

I agree. Ebay has really declined on sales. Sometimes I forget I even have stuff on Ebay till I get a sale notification. Any recommended sites that will help pick up the slack on sales?

I sell on both. It used to be 30% Amazon 60% ebay, now it has switched to 60/30. (Amazon increased, ebay did not decrease.)
In the beginning I thought Amazon customers were less trouble but dollar for dollar there are equal numbers of moron sellers and buyers on both sites.
My Amazon customers tend to ask fewer silly questions, even when a competitor has erased product details from the item page, but they tend to be much nastier if there is problem.
My ebay customers seem more aware that "crap happens", are more flexible, and more likely to communicate problems with me.
Amazon customer service for sellers is miles ahead, but they have fewer tools at their disposal to help/are limited at what they can do to the site.
Do some research on what you sell, is it already on Amazon, what does it sell for, number of competitors selling the same thing, understand your actual cost of selling when you list each item.
Good Luck

my son still sells on ebay but sales have been on a steady decline since april 2010 for him. i no longer sell on ebay but i saw the same decline until i quit selling there a couple of months ago.
as stated before, i sell on all the alt sites and had great sales across the board. almost zero npb or customer probs. nothing at all like the "new ebay buyers".
but, sales on the alts has also declined in the last 120 days.
i worked cl hard and got loads of sales there but flaggers on cl are tough to deal with.
most of my sales now come from ads that i place on backpage driving traffic to my sites.
bp is seller friendly and is fast closing the gap with cl.
wont work for all products, but can sure bring traffic to your site. paid ads are cheap and GET SEEN.
i also sell on amazon, not many sales, but it's always nice when a sale comes through :)
in the end, work 'em all hard. there is still a living out there on the net if you promote hard, sell a good product and treat your customers like you want to be treated
