(KUTV) SALT LAKE CITY - Musician Rich Brewster wanted some extra money so he decided to sell his drum production studio on eBay.com.
Rich listed his equipment and got an email from eBay confirming everything is in order. But an hour later, Rich got another email saying his auction is cancelled and his eBay account is suspended, with no explanation.
"I was really confused," Rich says. "I thought maybe I had entered something incorrectly when I signed up."
Rich says he has tried several times to call eBay to ask why he was kicked off their website. He says that he worries someone reported him for something. Or worse, his identity may have been stolen. But eBay offered no answers.
"When they told me that it was suspended indefinitely and they couldn't give me the reason why it just didn't seem right," Rich says.
Wanting answers that never came, this time, Rich decided to Get Gephardt and we began investigating.
When we called eBay, they refused to talk to us saying, ""In accordance with eBay's privacy policies, we do not to provide details about specific users or accounts."
But when we pressed, they did agree to contact Rich and offer him an explanation.
Rich says eBay told him he was banned because the price for his equipment had been set too low. But that doesn't make sense; how can that be true on an auction website?
