Google uses Google+ probably more than anyone else out there (except for maybe Robert Scoble), and regardless of whether or not you have added it to your daily social networking routine, it continues to provide a great channel for getting to know Google better.
That doesn’t just go for helping your search rankings (which it can), but it provides a direct line of communication with many, many Googlers. It’s a great place to get advice from Google, and to share feedback. And it’s not just empty feedback. They’re actively participating in meaningful conversations with users, and have shown that they are taking ideas into consideration (for example, see recent Gmail integration).
This week, Google Webmaster Trends analyst John Mueller posted the following in a Google+ update:

| I wish I understood 'Google', but I don't. I'd love to have my Ebay items showing in Google search- as they used to (when I was makeing tremendous sales) Once that stopped- my sales dropped to about 25% of what they were) I just don't understand it all.... Betty Lou  |

| Betty Lou, do you list auction format or fixed price GTC (good till cancelled) format?..I think, but am not sure, eBay auction listings won't show in google search, but a GTC fixed price listing will show on Google's 1st page? not sure about 30 day fixed price eBay listings making the google search? |

I very seldom list 'auction-style' (may 2 or 3 out of 100- Never list GTC- My norm is my store, fixed price for 30 days. I know things have changed- at one point we could post our links on Google- but ONLY if we had a store. I didn't have a store at that time..Now I have a store, but not sure how Google can help my items to be found?
Also years ago, everything I listed on Ebay- auction or fixed would eventually show up on Google, without me doing anything. This was when I made many sales. I understand that Google and Ebay had some kind of a falling out??- I still see a LOT of Ebay items on Google, when I do a search- but none of mine. Betty Lou |

| hope it gets better for you.. it is harder, I know for me, to keep up my sales..it seems like an eternal struggle..so many factors involved..my buddies I chat with at the local live auctions I attend quite regularly, to scout out bargains for resell, tell me they just can't seem to find the quality of antique or collectible like they could 8 or 10 years ago.. |

I think they are still there- but receiving such low search visibility (being the 'small' sellers) that people can't find them. Best Match sorta ruined that too. Values on the antiques and vintage items seem to have really dropped...unless they are large sellers & then they are easily found- and the prices much higher. I have sold antique plates, etc. for $9.95, when the same items have have sold for over $50.
Same thing for jewelry, dolls, books- you name it. Betty Lou |
