Auction services were among the worst-graded companies of 2011, according to Angie's List, a provider of consumer reviews on local contractors and service companies. And for the seventh consecutive year, home warranty companies topped the categories list.
Repeat offenders on the year's most complained-about list included Internet service providers, property management companies, mobile and landline phone service providers, and wedding service categories, such as bridal shops and wedding planners.
Most of the complaints for auction services were for estate auctions, but there were some complaints for Internet auction sites as well.

Angie's list - such a scam. They basically extort merchants for "enhanced listings" for $300'500/month and promise to "help" their ratings. No verification of any of the data. Company shills posting positive reviews everywhere, competitors doing the opposite. No retraction policy - even if they know a review is a lie. Just do some google research on them.

| Kind of sounds like the old Good House Keeping magazine scam. Manufacturer's place ads in magazine and pay GHK a fee ($100,000 in the article I read) and GHK suddenly your product as meeting their standards and gets a GHK seal of approval. |
