I didn’t know whether to chuckle or cry at the latest post on the eBay Ink Blog announcing a new “Bring it. Sell it. Ship it.” program to encourage eBay employees in San Jose to sell on eBay. It strikes me as bizaare that they’re not all selling on eBay already.

I can remember hearing rumours that (in the old days) at eBay UK staff meetings they had to announce their feedback score and could even be called upon to explain any negative or neutral feedbacks they’d received. I can remember when eBay employees were proud of their feedback record and would compete to see who had the most. At the very early eBay universities some eBay employees had more feedback from me, and theirs numbered in the thousands.

The most telling part of the eBay Ink blog post was the comment “For those employees selling for the first time, each Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm, employee Power Sellers will be on hand in the station to help folks get started“.

Strange, I figured they would not have any time to sell items since they are so busy selling lies, scams, cons, and other unethical behavior to eBay's users. Is there a ebay staff member that actually tells the truth and does not lie to you - I haven't found one yet and my account dates form 1999. And its not like they tell you lies that are in a gray area, but ones that are so easy to disprove or that you know are false.

I think the best was when they diverted almost 400 of my auciton sinto a new category called "other" where they didn't sell. A strange way to treat the no. 1 lister in the category at the time. They told me not to worry about because categories are not the important because the search engine will find things - all so they could try to get out the listing fees back in the day when people actually paid those and could have a 70% sell through on the first listing. O.K., if thats strue why are you charging people for two categories then and removing items form being in the worng category. LOL, even I am not that dumb!

I personally found it a bit strange ebay would NOT allow it's own employees to list and or sell on the site.
I wonder if a one time they could but one of it's employee's broke some of their listing/selling policies and were banned.

"employee Power Sellers..."

confused, if they couldn't sell before, how did they get to be power sellers? or is the article flawed?

Norrington sold this pair of her shoes without disclosing she was an eBay employee in the listing:

Maybe now they will have something to relate to when it comes to people who USE their unfair rules to screw them!

I'm not understanding this at ALL? Ebay employees have always sold on Ebay...Nearly every Ebay customer service person I have ever talked to, has told me that they too are an Ebay seller. I watched an Ebay Trade Fair, convention- or something (utube) many years ago and the Ebay workers were talking about their selling experiences...

Actually- I have alway THOUGHT it is a conflict of interest for Ebay employees to sell on Ebay- since they have 'insider info' that you and I aren't privy to...

I also remember, years back- when someone wrote in one of the forums about purchasing an item from a seller who worked for ebay- they had purchased a large item (forget exactly what it was...) but the Ebay seller had put $400 shipping in the listing- and then upped it to $700.00- and got away with it.

So...what this article is all about- I have NO idea...Ebay employees have ALWAYS been Ebay sellers. Betty Lou
