Hi!

Any comments about this new site?
http://auctionopia.com/

They have something that I think is useful: you can download a program for bulk-upload... and it's called 'Powerseller' :-P

I haven't tried that program yet, but the site looks not so bad.

It is an attractive site. Couldn't find out what their fees are.

Hi again!

In the 'About Us' tab you can read: 'There are no listing fees or hidden costs (final sale fees), meaning that you can list anything on Auctionopia for free. We only apply fees when you want to “enhance” the position or visibility of your listing.'

Sounds good... but I want to try the application for bulk upload :-)

wow.. those are really interesting questions... I hope they'll answer. Actually, I'm not that good to check all security aspects from a site (a flaw in my side, I guess).

I've had selling experiences with Ioffer and eBid only, in both cases I sent an invoice with my paypal email, and payment was sent and received with no problem. Have you heard of paying problems in other sites?

Not many items are available in this particular site though... maybe people is concerned about security?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for posting the questions. Happy to address them.

DaNiel, you are correct. There are no final value fees or listing fees.

Regarding listing enhancements (featured product, bold, highlight, border - I'm sure you all know the drill), that is where the seller will be routed to Authorize.net, and you pay Auctionopia directly.

When you list your first item, we ask for your PayPal e-mail. When a buyer wins one of your auctions, they're invoiced the amount, and you are paid directly. We do not hold any fees.

As for the Authorize.net verified merchant Seal, it's in there now.

Auctionopia has been in development for the past 3.5 years, and I've been visiting PSU during that time to learn how to create an auction service that meets your expectations.

We had a soft launch on February 14, 2012, and we welcome your feedback.

Here's a link to our recent video explaining the in's and out's - http://vimeo.com/36897520

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions.

No problem.

On the disclaimer page, the "click here" is actually for those users who do not have a PayPal account. The URL brings you right over to PayPal, and if you already have an account (or are signed in), it routes you to your home page.

To continue with our registration, you actually scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click "next". Perhaps it's in our best interest to make that more visible.

Regarding registration security, we don't have the page "https://", as we require minimum information to sign-up. However, we absolutely can make that page "https" and can encrypt. Peace of mind is priceless, and we're making that change as we speak.

Hi Tom!
Thanks for the replies, it's been very useful info.
As I wrote before, I wanted to use the Powerseller appl, but when I tried to install it, I got this message: 'An installation for Microsoft Office XP Professional is currently suspended. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?' I clicked 'No' so installation process was stopped. I know this may be a problem in my pc, but I wonder if you have some additional info about this matter. I don't want my pc to crash, so any ideas? :-)

Also, some things I noted about the site, that may be helpful :-)
- A 'Sell a similar item' next to Edit/Delete links may be helpful too... for sellers it's a bit easier to change some info only, instead of always entering the same data.
- I sell worldwide, but if someone doesn't, how can you prevent international buyers from bidding on your item?
- If I ship worlwide I have different shipping cost... maybe a chance to enter at least a cost by continent? Can buyers pay instantly without an invoice sent by me? I think it would be better if I send the right invoice before getting any payment.

Well, if you have a couple of minutes for these question, it will be great to hear from you.

Thanks & Greetings from Peru,

DaNieL

Thanks for the kind words, thegolfingdolphin. We always welcome your feedback.

Hey DaNiel,

Glad the information is helpful.

The Powerseller application is actually being revised right now. It's an unbelievable tool for sellers, but we realized some sellers were able to use it well, and others had uploading errors. So what we're doing right now, is making it more "universal" for everyone to use. Meaning, if you're on a PC or a MAC, there will not be an issue. We expect this to be ready by the end of the week, but we're also encouraging sellers to send us their "XLS" spreadsheet, and we're happy to upload it under your account.

A cool feature that we added to the bulk uploader comes from some Google Product technology. If a seller uploads 1000 products, Google reads each title and pulls a representative image an for your item. We think it's a time saver, and if you have your products on any other outlet with the same title, it will find that product, as well (i.e., eCommerce store, eBay, other auction sites).

The "sell a similar item" is a fantastic idea. I've just informed our development team. I know the perfect spot for feature.

Your shipping comment also comes with good timing. We are actually testing this right now (adding an "international shipping field"), as a few sellers have asked the same question. What we've advised them in the meantime, is to place a disclaimer at the top of the description: "Will only ship to ___ "

Right now, the buyer is simply invoiced for the amount sold (plus shipping), so I'll certainly look into the seller being able to invoice. Sounds like that will make it easier you.

Thanks for your time.

Tom

Hi Tom!

Thanks for your time and the nice answers to my questions.

I'll wait for the new release of the appl, and try it again.

Checked out the site. As I said earlier quite attractive. One issue that I came across. When clicking on a category to see what was selling there I clicked Vintage and then Collectibles. In both cases when I clicked page 2 a list of electronic items came up. I don't think they were either vintage or collectibles. That might need correcting.

Hi caljackscollectibles,

Thanks for the kind words about the design.

We appreciate you pointing out the navigation hiccup. When we make little changes here and there, it sometimes results in what you experienced - pages temporarily getting a mind of their own. I'll let my team know immediately. Again, thank you for the feedback.

Tom
