Hi Everybody

We're a group of recent Berkeley graduates that is developing a website to help people buy and sell things through sites like Craigslist, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace. We would really appreciate if you could take the time to help us.

Any input you provide will likely result in us customizing product development so that it reaches you and fits your needs. It’s only about 15 simple checkbox style questions. Your answers will be completely anonymous.

“We analyze second hand classified ads to provide the current going price for items you’d find on places like eBay and Craigslist. Kind of like Kelley Blue Book but for all consumer goods… and we perform analytics to show pricing trends so buyers and sellers can land better deals.”

Thanks for your time and help.

The value of any item is what someone is willing to pay for it. In bad economic times people don't like paying to much. In great economic times people are willing to pay a much higher price.

Most sellers want a quick turnover so they list items at a far less price then they can really get for it over time and buyers take this quick turnover ideology as the true value of an item when when in actuality it's just seller dumping for short profits.

Before the internet and Ebay the value of items and collectables were far greater. But with the rise of Ebay massive seller dumping for short profits and sellers dumping items just to chase the Ebay rating star brought true item values so low you can make more money at a part time minumum wage job.

oh how true are those words most of the antique and collectable markets are gone by the way side as far as value and most collectables aren't selling e bay has killed more business than it has made and has decreased the value of the on line market business to one tenth of what it was auctions at a 0.01 and 0.99 all have contributed to the short selling for quick undervalue profit of almost anything. yea a pt job at minimum wage would bring more profit, simply because you don't pay the all the associated fees and taxes that online sellers are being hit with. You just pay normal income taxes with a minimum wage job

it might just be me, but as you guys said eBay prices have declined substantially, but at the local live estate/farm auctions I attend, the "junk" is going through the roof price wise, and I can't figure out this phenomenon, other than a lot of newbs that are recently unemployed because of the bad economy showing up at the auctions (I see lots of new faces at these events)and not doing their homework, or more likely highly inexperienced and not knowing values of used items, bidding stuff out of sight.. they watched an episode or two of antiques roadshow and are now in their own minds seasoned dealers ..

Hi Everybody,
We are very interested in getting 10 Beta Tester for our 'soon to be launched website', and here are some more information about us so you can see if this could be something for you.
We are a company located in San Francisco, working on developing a tool (with statistical analysis and price suggestions) for people buying or selling used goods on online marketplaces, like craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace etc. so they can get a more accurate market price for their used goods. We wish to help people determine the value of items they are considering to sell, in order for them to decide whether its a good deal or not.

Our long term goal is to be the "Kelly Blue Book" for all used goods, not only cars. We want people to experience user friendliness and simplicity, at the same time as we provide in depth analysis.

What we would like you to do is to use the site, without much outside help, so we can se your interaction with the site and what needs to be improved and not.

Hope this explains and help you understand what our service is all about, and I hope this is something that could be interesting for you!
If so, don't hesitate to contact me on email - beate@statricks.com

Best,
Beate Steinveg
