Well it kind of depends on what you use the Internet for..
Some use it as their sole income while most merely use it to make a little extra $$ on the side while working full-time elsewhere..
If going to really depend on this format for income a seller would have to get his or her name into the net via online auctions and slowly build their own client base--From which they could hopefully someday bring that customer base into their own web site--Thus saving $$ on listing fees at the largest online trading company--Ebay.com
There are hundreds of smaller alternatives to ebay yet few if any generate the amount to traffic the giant does--But some are growing in popularity!
It also depends on what you are offering to the public--IE, winter clothing doesn't sell all that well during the summer months and vise-versa reference bathing suits during December
Niche markets seem to be the thing now along with electronics and clothing
Hope this helps~ |

but what im getting at here is that they are many companies out there using fraud to get people to buy their items and resell for them, and then the resellers then make the mistake of that they didn't do that extra bit of research into the market first and don't make any profit. is there any genuine companys out there that you could make a profit, id say if there was then everyone would know about it by now. yes l understand companies that sole trade make profit, yes thats understandable, but why do say the like of dropshippers have to get resellers to sell there stuff , surely if it was viable it would sell its self.

What sort of fraud, specificaly?
People buy widget at XX$ should know, or have done the research to know whether they can sell said widget for more than XX$. The buyer would be responsible, I would think, for the decisions they make concerning their own money.
"yes l understand companies that sole trade make profit," is confusing to me a bit???
Dropshipping is a way a lot of people use to not have to deal with several issues- packing, handling and storage are a couple I can think of right off the top of my head.
And, if seller to be is buying from the dropshipping company, the product is getting sold; I have never heard of anything "selling itself" with out either a seller advertising it or presenting it in some form. |

Welcome to PSU,
To address the issue of wholesaling and dropshipping, there is nothing fraudulent about these activities. Wholesalers generally purchase items in large quantities directly from the manufacturer and stock them in warehouses to be resold to distributors who will sell them at retail. Since it is the wholesaler who has his money invested in the inventory, storage and labor costs, they usually make the largest percentage of the profit. Wholesalers may or may not sell items at retail to the general public.
As a distributor (middleman) who uses the wholesaler to dropship the items he resells, he has nothing invested in the inventory or the labor costs to have it delivered to his buyer. The distributor therefore ususally makes a much smaller percentage of profit on those items he sells.
If you are looking to make a higher percentage of profit on the items you sell, you might consider buying directly from a manufacturer. However in most cases they would require you to purchase items in larger quantities and your investment would be greater.
As far as experience goes, I believe that all the members here at PSU have been successful selling at various auction sites, and many have been selling at their own websites. The variety of items is tremendous and each has their own way of getting their items to sell.
If your concern is to avoid fraudulent sellers, then you need to avoid those who offer illegal, copyright infringing, pirated or bootlegged products that are replicas of the real Brand Name items. These are found mostly in the areas of handbags, watches, clothing, electronics, CD's, DVD's and computer software. Custom agents are confiscating these items to keep them from reaching those who purchase them to resell. The sellers won't be able to help you then and you might even get yourself in trouble, too.
These are just a few things to think about when considering being a seller on the internet. Take your time and do your research and don't expect to be an "over-night" success. It usually doesn't happen that way. We all have made a few mistakes along the way, travelling down different roads to reach the same goal of successful selling on the internet.
Hope this information helps you. |

Guess I misunderstood his question :)
Very well stated Sylvia!
I personally do not use dropshippers but choose to purchase in bulk, store and then offer the items to the public myself
It's a little more risky in a way, not knowing what the latest "niche" is from month to month
I attempt to sell things that are for collectors of certain things, user friendly, reasonably priced and cheap to ship
I hope sylvia answered your questions niauctionmart.com |

yes thats all good info, but who do you purchase from at the start, iv found 100s and thousands of so called wholesalers / dropshippers only to find when you check prices that they are above what the items are selling for in the first place. well l need proof of a company that is genuine in what it says.
Can l ask you guys to give my site a quick look over at www.niauctionmart.com and review it for me. it will be free to use from the 8th april and you can still purchase complement things like attention grabbers and featured listings. but in the whole its free listing, and picture service. l am getting seo soon from 123 ranking. any suggestions are taken on board . its only a hobby at the moment l enjoy doing the auction thing.after all you guys are the sellers , so what makes an auction site for you.
thanks
