Thanks for posting, cz!

No, I have switched it out with the one from my hubby's pc, which I am on now. So...not the video card. That would normally cause beeps during posting. I even switched out the old cpu with a brand new one. I am wondering, could it have something to do with the heat sink? I have tried 3 different ones, but that doesn't seem to matter.

UGGGHHHHH!!

Hi, LD, I'm by far a computer expert, but I always ask about each and every part that's been on or off my desktop. I mainly use a laptop and never had any problems with it and I bought it used. The new desktop is the one that gives me grief.

I'll check back to see what some of the real experts say so I can save the info for future reference if I encounter a similar issue.

Hope you get yours back and running. Have a great one!

Thanks cz...you have a good one too! It is my b'day weekend (b'day on Monday) so I plan on celebrating this weekend. Hubby already called from work telling me we are going out :) I may just put fixing the pc on hold for the weekend.

You all enjoy yourself. Please, if anyone else has any suggestions, please feel free to post! :)

First, always check the obvious and cheaper checks- how is the monitor?

You've covered the other bases pretty well...

The heat sink shouldn't matter until a few minutes, then you would get a blue screen ( in our experience). DH always uses thermal paste between the sink and processor anyways, just as a redundent safety thing.

If you are getting no beeps, nothing at all with the screen, I would switch monitors and try that.

I can't drag DH's attention any further, LOL, he is looking at old motorcycles.....He's lost to everything for a bit!

LOL @ lost
I love old motorcycles myself :) Can't blame him.

I have tried 2 different monitors...so, I don't think that is the problem. No posting beep at all...but everything turns on. I even tried a couple different motherboards. It can't be the processor, cause that worked before pulling it, and I have a new one also. I am using the ram in hubby's pc, so it isn't that, either. I just can't figure it out. I have thermal paste on the core of the cpu. I have built about 6 pc's now, but just can't figure this one out.

Thanks for all of your help!
