I have been on eCrater for a little over 2 months and am still waiting for my first sale. My other stores are getting activity and sales. At EC I have people looking and no sales. Am I not patient enough? How long did it take you to get your first sale at eCrater? Have you been able to maintain some steady sales? What have you done to promote your store that you have found to be really effective?

I have the eCrater store on all my signatures, on invoices, and in all packages I send out. As of yet, I have not paid for any advertising.

Just thought sharing some ideas may be helpful to all!

Hey Flags,

I think you and some others here may be overlooking one of the most powerful advertising tools on the internet. And it's free!

RSS! Ecrater has RSS feeds.

And while signatures are seen in emails and forums, odds are that your signature in emails are being seen by customers that have already purchased items and may not have as big of an effect since they have already spent money. Signatures in forums are most commonly seen by other sellers, so probably not many sales there either.

What you should do is make your items available in as many places as possible where shoppers can find them through search engines by keywords. By submitting your RSS feed to just a few RSS submission sites, your items can be spread across the internet in no time.

A few minutes spent is all it takes and rarely needs updating since most RSS aggregator sites update "on-click".

Give RSS a try, then do some searching on Google for your items a week from now and you'll see what I mean! :D

Thanks, I just submitted my ebay store. I have both auction and fixed price items, is it eligigle? Do I get some type of confirmation that the feed has been excepted? Since eCrater is not an auction site, it doesn't look like it is eligible. Does anyone know who to submit the RSS eCrater feed to?

Yes, your RSS feed has been accepted at AuctionRSSFeed.com.

Ecrater does things a little different. Only one Ecrater member has submitted their RSS feed at AuctionRSSFeed before, but looking through your categories there, I see the little "orange RSS button" at the bottom, so maybe Ecrater only has "category" rss feeds within your store.

Hey Flag,

Another way to get your RSS feed from eCrater is to "filter" your items from "low price" to "high price" and get the link from the "orange button" at the bottom of the search results.

AuctionRSSFeed accepts auction-related feeds, whether auction news, auction items, store items from sites running store software. Anything that is for sale from a RSS feed or e-commerce/auction news.

Thanks for adding your RSS feed!

Hi Flags1776,

Any good sales yet? Not certain how I would know if I had a sale, but anxious to find out.

I'm in the same shape. Awful lot of hits, no sales. I'm trying to list my RSS feed to see if it helps. Finally had success listing a bulk upload to GoogleBase. We'll see if that does any good. I don't know how long it takes to see a difference. Working on the Froogle RSS feed. I have absolutely no patience.

Thanks & good luck!

HiGeorgiaRose
An upadate here, just looked at the site. My hits are the highest yet and still no sales. But my on-line, ebay, and local business is good. My prices here, including shipping, are the same as my other sites. So I am confident it is not a pricing issue. I sense that we are not alone in this after looking at other stores feedback and rankings.

Have you loaded your feed at adabid.com? (see above post) he was very helpful. I did my feed in the beginning of May and I think it was helpful for my increased hits.

HiFlags,

Well, the Ecrater road was time spent, but compared to some sites, it was very easy and less time comsuming than most. I hate that it isn't producing anything. I'll move on. I have found so much valuable info here on PSU. Trying to get our name out there absolutely everywhere. Let me know if you have success anywhere else and I will do the same.

I submitted a request to him to do the RSS feed. Do you have to wait for a response?

Thanks again,
RLW

GeorgiaRose,

I responded to your email requesting your eCrater store URL so I could help you. Maybe the email went to a spam box.

Anyway, most sellers who have submitted RSS feeds from eCrater have had to use the RSS feed from the categories in their store. You may check there for a orange RSS button. If you find one, feel free to submit it!

I would recommend putting your stores in your signature, you will be amazed at how many hits you get from them!

Go to profile up at the top, click on profile again and you will see a spot for signature. After you put them in, click on the link to make sure it works.
Good luck
