One of the things that has held me back from OnlineAuction.com was their heavy reliance on PayPal as a payment processor (same heartburn I have with WagglePop). However, I got a note today from OnlineAuction telling me that they want to use Xcoin.com as a charge-charge clearing house. From the email:Quote: › docWrite("quote")Xcoin.com, founded in 2000, is an Internet-based electronic payment service developed and owned by Xcoin (USA) Inc. The Xcoin platform enables businesses to Send, Request and Receive cross-border payments over the Internet.Last time I looked, OLA was nearly 20% of the size of ebay by listing count (although that may not be a realistic measure), so maybe this Xcoin thing might actually be a viable competitor. I'm still putting my bets on Google, though.

Sounds a little like the way PayPal started. X.com
became the now dreaded PayPal.

Haven't heard of xcoin....but I will check into it.

Checked it...seemed decent enough..including the fees. But then I noticed that the bank transfers are only available in the US, Canada and Hong Kong. WHAT??? Wait...where is this thing located??? No idea...but I worry whenever Europe isn't included but the far east is!!!

Here is a user experience in the post that's time/date stamped: 05-08-2006, 09:14 PM
reference: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-14100.html

Whois shows the domain name is US owned:
POINT ROBERTS, WA 98281 - check whois for further info.

But, as the user experience indicates, an employer profile indicates the location as Hong Kong.

No time to do more research, but maybe this'll help those considering using the services to compile more info.

I would stick with PayPal before I go with any of these unknown services, the lesser of 2 evils. Really, really, really do your research on this stuff. Too many people throw their faith into sites due to their hatred of PayPal/eBay, when the site did absolutely NOTHING to earn their trust besides be an alternative.

This is just my advice from seeing some of the other scams out there, and hoping for something better.

PS: I'd stay away from Wagglepop for much better reasons than PayPal. Another example of a site you shouldn't trust with your information, since it shut down and reopened by emailing all it's users (hey, if you shutdown, you shouldn't keep that information, scarey stuff!)

Well even though it's never been heard of here, I went ahead and signed up with xcoin.com
Seems real easy to use and the fees are very reasonable but as roundabout observed--It's going to be a while before useres shy away from PP--Kind of like most of the alternative auction sites. People just don't know they're out there

I received my first xcoin payment for an item yesterday. Now the item was only 2.99, but the fee was only.10. The buyer was happy and said it was simple to use. I just sent them a request for payment, they signed up and within 30 minutes I received a payment confirmation email! Hope I can get some more buyers to use it cause you can't beat fees like that.

I am currently using xcoin and moneybookers. We have officially left Ebay for good. There is no turning back now!!! We signed up with moneybookers after signing up with ebid. We received our first xcoin payment of $85 yesterday. It cost us about $2.50 in fees and was an absolute breeze to use. Verifying our bank account took them 2 days, but other than that we're very happy with our them.
